Nestled amongst the leafy streets of residential Great Linford, north of central Milton Keynes, The Willows is a peaceful, purpose-built care home providing respite and long-term residential, residential dementia, nursing, dementia nursing and end of life care for older people.

Offering attentive and professional care, our team members take great pride in the positive, harmonious atmosphere they have created here, providing comfort and stimulation to keep everyone active in mind and body.

As a family-owned and run business, we insist on a loving, personal approach, and The Willows does it well, with a dedicated and committed team, hailing from the local community as well as areas such as Stantonbury, Bletchley and Downs Barn.

Our home is designed to help residents live happily. The spacious bedrooms all feature en-suite bathrooms and bright, welcoming communal areas are complemented by a sensory room, prayer room and quiet room, giving people a choice of how they spend their time.

“The team are wonderful with the residents and families; supportive, helpful and caring. Lots of laughter. They have a very demanding and difficult job, but still manage to be kind and patient. My mum recently had a birthday and they made her day so special. Thank you all for your hard work, it is very much appreciated.”

Relative of Resident

“The Willows is relaxed and friendly, but the carers have things very much in hand. Staff always greet you with a smile and are genuinely pleasant and friendly with the residents. Management is always accessible and always take time to help relatives and visitors through a process which can be very difficult. I am extremely impressed by the care offered to my mother.”

Relative of Resident

“Despite her initial nervousness, my grandmother settled into The Willows very quickly and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The level of service and attention to detail is second to none, and the manager and deputy go above and beyond for all the residents. I couldn't recommend this home highly enough.”

Relative of Resident

“We wish to express our sincere gratitude for the superb love and care given to Betty during her days at The Willows, especially during her last few weeks. We were overwhelmed by the constant attention given to her and also the support to the family… what kind and lovely staff you have. We are going to miss you.”

Relative of Resident

"Granny was initially adamant not to go to a care home. The staff were patient, knowledgeable, kind and professional to the point that granny decided The Willows was the place for her to be. The care has been spot-on. Granny was happy, warm, clean and well-fed and we as a family were well supported. Thank you."

Relative of Resident

"Absolutely the best care from all the staff. Nurses, cleaners, receptionists. You do yourselves proud."

The Willows-Milton Keynes-Excel Care-3434.jpgWith more than 30 years of knowledge and experience in running care homes, Excelcare always insists on comfort, safety and a personal approach to care. The Willows embodies this; it’s a charming and stylish home, thoughtfully designed to give residents plenty of independence, safe in the knowledge that help is always nearby if needed.

Each of the three floors in our beautiful home has a bright, welcoming lounge and dining room plus quiet areas, meaning there is no shortage of communal, social or more tranquil spaces.

All our spacious bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms for privacy, while lifts, wide corridors and good lighting makes access around the building easy for residents – and everywhere is accessible for wheelchair users. Attractively decorated and furnished, our interiors are designed to create an aura of tranquillity,          using bright uplifting colours for a positive touch.

The Willows is a great place to get involved in what's going on. The real hives of activity are our games room and sensory room, where family and friends are welcome to join us.

Residents can often be found in the kitchenette having a chat over a cup of tea and a piece of freshly baked cake from our kitchens. Another favourite spot is the conservatory, which is a cosy refuge in the colder months with French doors leading onto the patio for easy access to the outdoors during warmer weather.

A happy, peaceful and harmonious community, we support our residents with excellent facilities and high standards of care given with dignity, encouragement and real love.

A home with a real community spirit

The Willows-Milton Keynes-Excel Care-3549.jpgAt The Willows, we believe that a good social life is an effective way of building confidence in older people, as well as specifically boosting mental wellbeing and happiness. We encourage all our residents to get involved in as many of our activities as they like, whether it’s keeping up with old hobbies or finding new ones to enjoy.

Our team of Lifestyle Coordinators put together a varied and interesting programme of events that reflect residents’ interests and abilities, keeping everyone sociable and engaged. Our reminiscence activities are especially effective ways of boosting the mood for those living with dementia, as well as stimulating wider conversation.

Bringing people together to interact and develop new friendships is something that we love to do and there are a variety of opportunities to socialise during movie showings, exercise classes, activities and light-hearted competitions. People can also choose to work together in the rose garden and vegetable plot in our grounds, a very pleasant way to spend a summer’s afternoon.

We are always ready to celebrate, whatever the occasion. Key calendar dates like Easter, Pancake Day, and St Patrick’s Day are marked with friends, family and the local community and we have our own celebrations, too. For birthdays and anniversaries, our chef whips up a beautiful personalised cake and we throw a party, inviting friends and family to join in the fun.

Our local community also plays a key part in the life of the care home with a wonderful intergenerational partnership with a local school, where children visit regularly to spend time with residents, as well as regular events such as fetes and Care Home Open Day.

Mealtimes are also one of the highlights of our day, where our catering team serves a varied menu of freshly prepared meals, based on our residents’ favourites, special dietary needs and cultural preferences.

At The Willows, we’re dedicated to ensuring everyone leads an active, happy and healthy life. There is a hair and beauty salon for those who love a spot of pampering and a sensory room for calm and relaxing moments.

A home of care and compassion

The Willows-Milton Keynes-Excel Care-3363.jpgSurrounded by rolling green lawns and an air of tranquillity, The Willows is a relaxed pace to call home, where skilled care is available round the clock and people can live safe in the knowledge they are being supported.

Our team is made up of highly skilled professionals who are passionate about caring for those living with complex health conditions, dedicated to improving their quality of life and day-to-day happiness.

Dementia care requires a special approach and treatment, so our superb carers deliver it with kindness and compassion whilst providing reassurance and comfort.

Mindful of the needs of our residents, their families and friends, our team members understand that coping with dementia can be a challenge. They are always on hand to offer support and give advice on coping strategies – or are just there to listen.

We make sure we spend plenty of time with each individual to understand their life history, likes, dislikes and personal preferences. This way, we can build up a detailed background of not only who they are but their care needs and put together a person-centred plan to best support their condition.

Always ensuring the needs of residents are met, we offer sensitive, compassionate care and the comfort of knowing they are happy and well cared for.

At The Willows and Lavender Lodge, we’re proud of providing such a warm, supportive home for people who are truly valued.
