Chief Executive Officer

About Osman

Osman (Ozzie) Ertosun started the Excelcare group back in 1989 when he opened Bowood Care Home in Catford. He built this home from the ground up and despite nine months with no admissions, he persevered and made it a place that was renowned for its quality care services and passionate team members.

Since the opening of Bowood, Ozzie has grown Excelcare across the midlands and south-east with a total of 33 care homes currently operating in London, Milton Keynes, Essex and Cambridge.
Ozzie has maintained the family-centred approach through this time, making Excelcare homes a place where people want to live and work.

His role now involves working closely with key stakeholders within the organisation, assessing our services and supporting their success through making improvements. Ozzie remains hands-on in his role, often taking time to join relatives and residents for meetings and events, as well as hosting wellbeing interviews for team members across the service to gain their valuable insights.

Sam Manning

Chief Operating Officer

About Sam

Sam joined Excelcare in 1993 and has been a valuable member of the team ever since. Sam’s role develops, refines and implements operational strategies, taking responsibility for the management, overall quality and efficiency of the group, ensuring that we deliver an outstanding service that is person-centred, focused and efficient at all times. 

Sam also leads by example, playing a critical role in shaping and guiding the future growth and development of Excelcare. 

Jonathan Crisp

Finance Director

About Jonathan

Jonathan joined Excelcare with over 25 years of experience in the financial industries. He has worked in senior roles for the last 20 years across the financial services, healthcare, education and voluntary sectors.

Now at Excelcare, Jonathan oversees all financial aspects of the company and advises on plausible growth strategies for the business.

Samantha Crawley

Head of Business Improvement

About Samantha

Samantha has 13 years' experience in Leadership positions working in older people’s care. She has worked in senior roles at care home providers for the majority of this time and before joining Excelcare was the National Director (UK & Ireland) of Dementia Care Matters. 

Now at Excelcare, she supports the team at head office and care homes directly to implement best practice strategies and ensures the business is consistently improving.

Osa Ogbeide

Head of People Operations

About Osa

Osa joined Excelcare in 2005 as a HR professional with over 20 years’ experience from a range of industries. Osa has a comprehensive and strategic understanding of key business functions and has experience devising and implementing human resources programs.  

As part of the senior management team at Excelcare, Osa is responsible for People Operations across the group, ensuring new-joiners are inducted correctly and existing team members are motivated to do their best every day.

Michael Caldecott

Head of IT

About Michael

Michael has almost 15 years of experience working in the IT industry and is an expert in the effective management of IT systems.

His role at Excelcare involves leading a team to develop infrastructures, systems and provide technical support to team members across the group. His work aims to improve workplace efficiency through system updates whilst looking for ways to reduce operating costs.

Sadie Munro

Head of PR & Marketing

About Sadie

Sadie has 5 years of experience in the marketing industry, working to amplify market share for brands and the important work they do. Sadie is an expert marketing generalist with skills in design, video editing, copywriting, brand management, social media and internal and external communications to name a few.

At Excelcare, Sadie heads up the PR and Marketing team, ensuring content is published across social channels daily and maintains communication across various platforms acting as brand guardian. She also supports key business functions to ensure they’re delivering against long term projects at office level and within the care homes.

Jane Prior

Head of Quality, Governance & Development

About Jane

Jane has over 10 years of experience working in the care industry. She has managed care homes at a regional level and has an in-depth understanding of what makes high-quality, person-centred care.

At Excelcare, Jane manages a team formed by people from quality, governance and development, whilst working collaboratively with the regional teams to educate, support and drive quality forward. This is done through monitoring, training and assessing care homes to ensure they meet the standards of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Louise Jones

Regional Operations Director

About Louise

Louise trained as a general nurse in the eighties but has worked predominantly in elderly care for over 22 years in various roles from Healthcare Assistant to Home Manager. Louise has completed an Apprenticeship Level 5, in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. 
Louise has worked with Excelcare since 2001 and has been the Regional Director for over 15 years. 

Louise is responsible for ensuring each care home in the Cambridge region is running smoothly, adhering to legislation and continuously working on service improvement and best practice.

Liana Dordai

Regional Quality & Care Manager

About Liana

Liana trained as an Adult Registered Nurse in Romania over 20 years ago and has gained experience working in various acute and critical care settings, within the NHS and private sector. Liana has held positions of Clinical Leader in transplant surgery theatres and Coordinator in traumatic brain injury research studies. In the care sector she worked her way up from Healthcare Assistant to managerial positions, leading by example and being a role model to her team.  Liana joined Excelcare as a Quality and Development Manager in June 2020

 

Her role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Caroline Goddard

Regional Quality & Development Manager

About Caroline

Caroline began her career in the care sector in 1992 as a volunteer in her local care home, leading to a Care Assistant role, Administrator and a Care Manager and Assistant Locality Manager within Local Government and PCT for the Older People’s Team. Caroline has attained Leadership and Management in Care Apprenticeship Level 5, NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care Award, NVQ Level 4 Administration Award and OU Management Qualification. Caroline has also completed her Registered Managers Award along with PTTL’s Level 4 and Apprenticeship and Diploma Assessor at levels 2, 3 and 5.


Caroline’s role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Carlos Camoira

Regional Estates & Facilities Manager

About Carlos

Carlos joined the Excelcare family in 2015 as a Painter and Decorator for the Cambridge Region and worked his way up from Maintenance Operative and Supervisor to become the Regional Estates & Facilities Manager. Carlos started his career in maintenance at a young age and has a great passion for it. He travelled extensively and gained a lot of experience working in many countries around the world.


Carlos ensures that all maintenance of our buildings is carried out to a high standard and manages maintenance team members in the region.

Mary Witten

Regional Quality & Development Manager

About Mary

Mary joined Excelcare as Head of Care in September 2016. Mary has been a qualified Nurse for many years and has worked across the care sectors, both in the NHS and in Social Care where she attained a Management qualification and a Diploma in Nursing. Her experience covers Acute Medicine, Emergency Care, District Nursing, Cardio-thoracic and Cardiology Nursing and over the past 10 years has worked as a Specialist Nurse in Continuing Healthcare.


Mary’s role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Vanessa Dodd

Regional Administration Manager

About Vanessa

Vanessa started her career in care in the mid-eighties and has had various roles from a Care Assistant to Assistant Manager. Vanessa transferred to Excelcare in 2001 as an Administrator and has been Regional Administrator for over 10 years.  Vanessa has an NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration.


Vanessa ensures the smooth running of administration processes across the region.

Janet Stephens

Regional Peripatetic Administrator

About Janet

Jan has worked in administration for many years, in various roles. She originally joined Excelcare as a Receptionist, covering maternity leave, before supporting the maintenance department and then becoming a Home Administrator.

Jan’s role as Peripatetic Administrator means she supports the Regional Administration Manager, covering leave for the homes’ Administrators and Receptionists.

Paul Kerr

Regional Learning & Development Trainer

About Paul

Paul joined Excelcare in April 2019 as Cambridge Regional Trainer. Paul has over 10 years’ experience working in the care sector as a trainer, giving him a great understanding of care and the skills required to main our exceptionally high standards for residents and staff alike.

Paul’s role is to deliver training and support to team members within the care homes across the region.

Ozcan Halil

Recruitment Officer

About Ozcan

Ozcan began his career in recruitment in 2001, as a Recruitment Consultant and worked his way up to becoming a Regional Manager of a large recruitment agency. He then set up his own recruitment business which he ran for 5 years. He started working for Excelcare in 2013
with over 10 years working within the Care Sector.

Ozcan is responsible for recruiting for the Cambridge Region, working closely with the Home Managers and other team members to recruit all new staff for their homes.

Pearl Ewing

Regional Lifestyle & Wellbeing Lead

About Pearl

Pearl has over 10 years’ experience working in the care sector with an NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care. She joined Excelcare in 2014 as Lifestyle Coordinator at Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon and then moved to the Regional Team as Lifestyle & Wellbeing Lead in 2019.

Pearl’s role is to support Lifestyle Coordinators in ensuring all their PR, Lifestyle and activities services are aligned and effectively delivering results across the region.

Helen Bennett

Regional Operations Director

About Helen

Helen joined Excelcare in May 2016 and was appointed as Regional Director for four of the Essex homes in January 2017, taking overall responsibility for all eleven homes in the Essex region in October 2017. Helen qualified as a Registered General Nurse and has spent 25 years in the Private Care Sector working in various Senior Management Roles.

Helen is responsible for leading and managing the region’s teams across all aspects of day to day business deliverables, including performance monitoring in relation to quality, business planning and performance.

Karen Spicer

Head of Quality & Development

About Karen

Karen qualified as an RGN in 1986 with an RMA level 4, A1 NVQ assessor award and Level 4 PTLLS training qualification. Karen has experience as a Registered Manager, Commissioning Manager and Trainer for the Healthcare sector. Karen has worked in social care for several corporate companies and commissioned a 92-bed new build care centre. Karen’s experience includes work with a training provider working across Surrey, Hampshire, and Dorset teaching open and bespoke courses in Health & Social care and NVQ assessing at levels 2, 3 and 4.

Karen has a pivotal role in driving quality of care, best practice, and delivering new strategies as and when required.

Glenda Barker

Quality & Development Manager

About Glenda

Glenda joined Excelcare in 2017 having worked in senior management roles within the NHS and the Social Care sector for nearly 50 years. Glenda has a Level 5 Management and Leadership Award,  Diploma in Dementia Care, a post-graduate degree and ENB Award in Clinical Practice and a higher-level degree in Project Management. Glenda  worked on a voluntary basis in Armenia and was the Design Lead for a new NHS Hospital Trust PFI project for 8 years. In 2012 Glenda was the Registered Manager of the Year (London) at the British Care Awards.

Glenda leads team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Linda Lewis

Quality & Development Manager

About Linda

Linda joined Excelcare in November 2017. Linda has extensive knowledge and experience in caring for older people and has worked in the care sector for over 25 years as a Home Manager, Area Manager and in Quality & Compliance. Linda holds Diplomas in Management and in Health & Social Care.

Linda assists the Essex region in achieving best practice care deliverables.

Gloria Read

Regional Learning & Development Manager

About Gloria

Gloria joined Excelcare in 2005, having worked in the care sector since 1986 in a variety of roles. Gloria has a Diploma in Dementia, City Guilds NVQ Levels 3 & 4. After completing her Registered Managers Award in 2004, Gloria achieved her City Guilds National Assessors Award A1 & PTLLS. Gloria is a qualified ‘Dementia Person-Centred Care’ trainer and has achieved NVQ 2 and 3 in Dementia Care.

Gloria’s role is providing ongoing training, support and development of team members.

About Lesley

Lesley joined Excelcare in September 2010, after working in the insurance industry for over 20 years in various roles including credit control management and Human Resources. Lesley has a Business and Administration Diploma Level  3.

Lesley works to ensure admin processes are followed to an impeccable standard across the region.

Claire Bedlow

About Claire

Claire joined Excelcare in June 2019 as the Recruitment Lead for the Essex region. Claire has an NVQ in Health and Social Care and in Business and Administration. Claire has over nine years experience in the care industry, starting  as a support worker and working her way up into the recruitment division for the care industry.

Claire works as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, facilitating effective staffing for the company.

Alex Eley

Estates & Facilities Manager

About Alex

Alex has worked in the Essex region of Excelcare since October 2012. He brought with him the many skills required for his role which he obtained working with his father in his building business from the age of fifteen.

Alex is responsible for the management of contractors and suppliers to ensure the provision of high quality and efficient services are delivered, measured for KPIs, service reviews and that service improvement plans are in place and being implemented.

Deana Bewers

Estates & Facilities Administrator

About Deana

Deana joined Excelcare in November 2016 and has had previous care sector experience caring for the elderly, including people living with dementia. Deana has worked for an accountant company as a PA and Office Manager for two years. Deana has experience of payroll and bookkeeping studying AAT. Deana has also started studying NVQ Level 3 Business Administration which Deana will complete by 2022.

Deana is responsible for the administration for the estates and facilities team.

Andrietta Jordaan

Quality & Development Manager

About Andrietta

Andrietta joined Excelcare as the London region Head of Care in January 2017 with 25 years of nursing experience. Andrietta is a Registered Nurse, with a Diploma in Mental Health, Midwifery and Community nursing. She is also a trained clinical interviewer. Andrietta combines her passion for care with a real understanding of the challenges – she has been a manager in the National Health Service (NHS) and independent healthcare sector for over 12 years working across primary and acute care.


Andrietta leads team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Molly Maenzanise

Quality & Development Manager

About Molly

Molly joined Excelcare in March 2019 as a Regional Quality and Development Manager for London. She qualified as an Adult Registered Nurse in 2006 and has worked at several hospitals as a Nurse and Matron for two NHS Community Hospitals and Frailty and Stroke in Kent. Molly has also worked in clinical governance as a Quality Improvement Manager for a Community health provider and in-service development.


Molly is passionate about quality improvement and patient safety and supports teams with improvement, using a range of techniques from process mapping to coaching.

Joselo Silva

Quality & Development Manager

About Joselo

Joselo has worked at Excelcare since March 2019 as a Regional Quality and Development Manager for London. Joselo is a registered nurse where he graduated from the Philippines in March of 1995 and continued with this professional degree at City University in 2006. Joselo has worked in a number of hospitals as Nurse in Charge.


Joselo plays a critical role in driving the quality of our care from a best practice perspective and deliver new strategies as and when required.

Tanya Coles

Quality & Development Manager

About Tanya

Tanya has over 25 years’ experience as a registered nurse and has worked across surgical and ICU services within the  NHS services most recently in the Liver transplants services. Tanya is a qualified trainer and assessor and has a passion for education and supporting others to achieve their potential.

Tanya has worked with Excelcare for 10 years and remains excited to work with teams across the region to develop services and people to deliver high-quality care.

Louise Bouthemy

Regional Quality & Risk Manager

About Louise

Louise joined Excelcare in 2010 in a Secretarial capacity and has since developed into various Management and Support roles.  Louise has worked as a Domiciliary Branch Manager, Regulations Manager and Head of Business Support.

Currently, Louise supports the London Regional Team as a Regional Quality & Risk Manager whereby she supports service risk, operations and quality care.  Louise is passionate about advocating for the very best outcomes for our residents and thoroughly enjoys being a part of the Excelcare family.  

Tahir Butt

Maintenance Manager

About Tahir

Tahir joined Excelcare in 2018, having worked as a contractor for fifteen years. He has a degree in Economics and Education and is a qualified Gas Engineer. He is responsible for planning and implementing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, installation and modification of building construction and repair in an efficient and timely manner through effective management of the maintenance department.


Tahir is responsible for maintaining and initiating all health, safety and environmental standards, managing projects within budget and deadlines and maintenance of production equipment.

Lorna Ann Thomas

Regional Administration Manager

About Lorna Ann

Lorna has worked in the care sector for almost 14 years, primarily in local government health and social care. She has previously worked as Compliance and Governance Lead Monitoring Officer at Excelcare to support service delivery and improvement in the London region.


Lorna’s current role is to provide administrative support to the regional team and London-based Excelcare homes.

Stephanie Kealey

About Stephanie

Steph started in commercial agency recruitment 21 years ago and quickly realised that her interest lay with provision to the social care market.  She set up a social care desk and took it from strength to strength.

After gaining 5 years of experience supplying to local authorities, private organisations and hospitals, Stephanie decided to set up her own business, providing a personal service to all her clients.  She joined Excelcare in 2017 and works closely with Home Managers and their teams to ensure we continually hire the best talent.

Jackie Blease

Regional Operations Director

About Jackie

Jackie originally joined Excelcare as the Registered Manager for Neath House Care Home and has worked in the Milton Keynes region since November 2003. Jackie went on to give support in the setting up and commissioning of The Willows, the largest care home in the organisation. She became the General Manager in October 2005 and was appointed Regional Manager in August 2008. Jackie has extensive knowledge and experience in caring for older people from spending over 25 years in the care sector. She holds Business Management qualifications and an NVQ level 4 Registered Managers award.


Jackie’s role is to implement best practice in nursing care, embedding a person-centred and quality-driven culture throughout the region, compliant with the necessary regulations and legislation.

Danni Gwenzi

Regional Head of Quality & Development

About Danni

Danni joined Excelcare in 2008 as a Nurse and was later promoted to a Unit Manager, of the Nursing Unit at Water Hall Care Home. She was appointed as General Manager of Water Hall in May 2011 and held this position until May 2015, when she was promoted to Milton Keynes Regional Head of Care. She has 16 years’ experience of working in the Health Care Sector and qualified as an RGN in 2001, worked in the Acute Sector on various wards for 2 years then joined a private care home in 2004 as an RGN Team Leader.


Danni plays a critical role in driving the quality of our care from a best practice perspective and deliver new strategies as and when required.

Donna Hines

Regional Quality & Development Manager

About Donna

Donna joined Excelcare as Head of Learning in July 2018. She qualified as a Learning Disability Nurse in 1997 and has over 21 years of experience working across care and education settings where she attained a Certificate in Training Practice. Her experience covers Complex Care, Epilepsy, Neurological rehabilitation and Continuing Healthcare Specialist Nurse.


Donna leads team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Gale Hills

Regional Administration Manager

About Gale

Gale was appointed Regional Administrator for the Milton Keynes region in 2010 after working for Excelcare as a Home Administrator. Previously Gale worked in the Finance Department of the Waste Management sector where she gained her AAT and NVQ 2 qualification. She went onto work for Contaminated Land Department as Personal Assistant to the CLS Director.

Gale’s role is to provide administrative support across all the regions homes to ensure all admin tasks are completed to the highest standard.
