About Osman

Osman (Ozzie) Ertosun started the Excelcare group back in 1989 when he opened Bowood Care Home in Catford. He built this home from the ground up and despite nine months with no admissions, he persevered and made it a place that was renowned for its quality care services and passionate team members.

Since the opening of Bowood, Ozzie has grown Excelcare across the midlands and south-east with a total of 32 care homes currently operating in London, Milton Keynes, Essex and Cambridge.
Ozzie has maintained the family-centred approach through this time, making Excelcare homes a place where people want to live and work.

His role now involves working closely with key stakeholders within the organisation, assessing our services and supporting their success through making improvements. Ozzie remains hands-on in his role, often taking time to join relatives and residents for meetings and events, as well as hosting wellbeing interviews for team members across the service to gain their valuable insights.

Sam Manning

Chief Operating Officer

About Sam

Sam joined Excelcare in 1993 and has been a valuable member of the team ever since. Sam’s role develops, refines and implements operational strategies, taking responsibility for the management, overall quality and efficiency of the group, ensuring that we deliver an outstanding service that is person-centred, focused and efficient at all times. 

Sam also leads by example, playing a critical role in shaping and guiding the future growth and development of Excelcare.

Samantha Crawley

Director of Care Quality & Transformation

About Samantha

Samantha has 19 years of experience at leadership level working in older people’s care. She has worked in senior roles at care home providers for the majority of this time and before joining Excelcare was the National Director (UK & Ireland) of Dementia Care Matters. 

Now at Excelcare, she supports the team at head office and care homes directly to implement best practice strategies and ensures the business is consistently improving.

Osa Ogbeide

Director of Resources & Digital Transformation

About Osa

Osa joined Excelcare in 2005 as a HR professional with over 20 years’ experience from a range of industries. Osa has a comprehensive and strategic understanding of key business functions and has experience devising and implementing human resources programs.  

As part of the senior management team at Excelcare, Osa is responsible for People Operations across the group, ensuring new-joiners are inducted correctly and existing team members are motivated to do their best every day.

Lorna Lynch

Director of Finance

About Lorna

Lorna began her career in Accountancy practice, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. Prior to joining Excelcare, Lorna gained over 20 years of accounting experience working in a wide range of industries, most recently in the Insurance and Education sectors.

Lorna joined Excelcare as Head of Finance & Business Partners in November 2019 and is currently in the role of Interim Finance Director.

Her role as Interim Finance Director is to lead the Finance team and the Finance Transformation Project. The overall object is to ensure we continue to operate on a strong financial basis, delivering accurate, timely reporting and analysis, with the emphasis on continual improvement of processes, outputs and controls.

Louise Jones

Regional Operations Director - Cambridge

About Louise

Louise trained as a general nurse in the eighties but has worked predominantly in elderly care for over 22 years in various roles from Healthcare Assistant to Home Manager. Louise has completed an Apprenticeship Level 5, in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. 
Louise has worked with Excelcare since 2001 and has been the Regional Director for over 15 years. 

Louise is responsible for ensuring each care home in the Cambridge region is running smoothly, adhering to legislation and continuously working on service improvement and best practice.

Helen Bennett

Regional Operations Director - Essex

About Helen

Helen joined Excelcare in May 2016 and was appointed as Regional Director for four of the Essex homes in January 2017, taking overall responsibility for all eleven homes in the Essex region in October 2017. Helen qualified as a Registered General Nurse and has spent 25 years in the Private Care Sector working in various Senior Management Roles.

Helen is responsible for leading and managing the region’s teams across all aspects of day to day business deliverables, including performance monitoring in relation to quality, business planning and performance.

Louise Bouthemy

Regional Operations Director - London

About Louise

Louise joined Excelcare in 2010 in a Secretarial capacity and has since developed into various Management and Support roles.  Louise has worked as a Domiciliary Branch Manager, Regulations Manager and Head of Business Support.

Currently, Louise supports the London Regional Team as Regional Operations Director.  Louise is passionate about advocating for the very best outcomes for the people living in our homes and thoroughly enjoys being a part of the Excelcare family.  

Celia Hardill

Regional Operations Director - Milton Keynes

About Celia

Celia has been working in a professional capacity in Social Care and Nursing for over 16 years. She is a Registered Nurse and qualified in 2007 at Southbank University in London.

She has operated at Regional Manager and Director level since 2012 and in her most recent role she was responsible for the leadership of 76 Care homes, both nursing and residential.

Celia has a genuine passion for working with older people and joined the Excelcare Family on the 2nd June 2021.

In her role at Excelcare, Celia is responsible for ensuring each care home in the Milton Keynes region is running smoothly, adhering to legislation and continuously working on service improvement and best practice.

Kelly Morris

Operations Director - Domiciliary Care

About Kelly

Kelly began her career in care with Excelcare 18 years ago, joining the Homecare management team in 2005.  Kelly has completed her Leadership and Management Qualification, QCF Level 4 in Health and Social Care and is a trainer in End of Life Care (Gold Standard Framework). 

Kelly’s role is the Operations Director for our large Domiciliary Care Agency based in Tower Hamlets, which has contracts in both London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Lewisham, ensuring that our team members deliver the highest standard of quality of care to the people we support in their own homes. 

Kelly is extremely passionate in regards to leading a service that is flexible and that always meets the changing needs of the local community.

Michael Caldecott

Head of IT

About Michael

Michael has almost 15 years of experience working in the IT industry and is an expert in the effective management of IT systems.

His role at Excelcare involves leading a team to develop infrastructures, systems and provide technical support to team members across the group. His work aims to improve workplace efficiency through system updates whilst looking for ways to reduce operating costs.

Sadie Munro

Group PR & Marketing Business Partner

About Sadie

Sadie has 5 years of experience in the marketing industry, working to amplify market share for brands and the important work they do. Sadie is an expert marketing generalist with skills in design, video editing, copywriting, brand management, social media and internal and external communications to name a few.

At Excelcare, Sadie heads up the PR and Marketing team, ensuring content is published across social channels daily and maintains communication across various platforms acting as brand guardian. She also supports key business functions to ensure they’re delivering against long term projects at office level and within the care homes.

Steve Parker

Head of Finance Operations

About Steve

Steve joined Excelcare in 2019.  Prior to Excelcare, he has 20 years’ accounting experience in a variety of industries, the past 8 have been spent within the care sector.

Currently, Steve is project managing the implementation and roll-out of three systems within the finance department which will transform the way the department runs and administratively supports the business.

Liana Dordai

Regional Quality & Care Manager

About Liana

Liana trained as an Adult Registered Nurse in Romania over 20 years ago and has gained experience working in various acute and critical care settings, within the NHS and private sector. Liana has held positions of Clinical Leader in transplant surgery theatres and Coordinator in traumatic brain injury research studies. In the care sector she worked her way up from Healthcare Assistant to managerial positions, leading by example and being a role model to her team.  Liana joined Excelcare as a Quality and Development Manager in June 2020

 

Her role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Caragh Johnson

Regional Quality & Development Manager

About Caragh

Caragh began her career in the care sector in 2001 as a Care Assistant in her local care home. She qualified as an Adult Registered Nurse in 2007 and has acquired experience working in various nursing settings in the private sector. Caragh has worked her way up from Registered Nurse to Clinical Lead, management and inspection positions within Health and Social Care and has attained her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.

Caragh joined Excelcare as a Quality and Development Manager in January 2021.

Her role is to lead team members in delivering high quality care to all residents across the region

Carlos Camoira

Regional Estates & Facilities Manager

About Carlos

Carlos joined the Excelcare family in 2015 as a Painter and Decorator for the Cambridge Region and worked his way up from Maintenance Operative and Supervisor to become the Regional Estates & Facilities Manager. Carlos started his career in maintenance at a young age and has a great passion for it. He travelled extensively and gained a lot of experience working in many countries around the world.


Carlos ensures that all maintenance of our buildings is carried out to a high standard and manages maintenance team members in the region.

Caroline Goddard

Regional Quality & Development Manager

About Caroline

Caroline began her career in the care sector in 1992 as a volunteer in her local care home, leading to a Care Assistant role, Administrator and a Care Manager and Assistant Locality Manager within Local Government and PCT for the Older People’s Team. Caroline has attained Leadership and Management in Care Apprenticeship Level 5, NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care Award, NVQ Level 4 Administration Award and OU Management Qualification. Caroline has also completed her Registered Managers Award along with PTTL’s Level 4 and Apprenticeship and Diploma Assessor at levels 2, 3 and 5.

 

Caroline’s role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Vanessa Dodd

Regional Administration Manager

About Vanessa

Vanessa started her career in care in the mid-eighties and has had various roles from a Care Assistant to Assistant Manager. Vanessa transferred to Excelcare in 2001 as an Administrator and has been Regional Administrator for over 10 years.  Vanessa has an NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration.


Vanessa ensures the smooth running of administration processes across the region.

Janet Stephens

Regional Peripatetic Administrator

About Janet

Jan has worked in administration for many years, in various roles. She originally joined Excelcare as a Receptionist, covering maternity leave, before supporting the maintenance department and then becoming a Home Administrator.

Jan’s role as Peripatetic Administrator means she supports the Regional Administration Manager, covering leave for the homes’ Administrators and Receptionists.

Ozcan Halil

Recruitment Officer

About Ozcan

Ozcan began his career in recruitment in 2001, as a Recruitment Consultant and worked his way up to becoming a Regional Manager of a large recruitment agency. He then set up his own recruitment business which he ran for 5 years. He started working for Excelcare in 2013
with over 10 years working within the Care Sector.

Ozcan is responsible for recruiting for the Cambridge Region, working closely with the Home Managers and other team members to recruit all new staff for their homes.

Petrina Faulkner

Regional Learning and Development Lead

About Petrina

Petrina joined Excelcare Cambridge in August 2021 and has worked in the care sector since 1991.  She has had various roles within the care sector from a Carer to Home Manager.

Petrina has also worked as a trainer for the care sector, teaching various courses surrounding Dementia Care, End of Life, Mental Health Awareness, Emergency First Aid, Moving and Positioning, Medication Administration, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Infection Control along with all other mandatory courses.

Petrina’s qualifications include a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement Diplomas and Apprenticeships Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5, Level 3 BTEC Advanced Award in Manual Handling, a Certificate in embedding Maths and English in Apprentices, Education and Training Certificate in Safeguarding, a Level 2 Award in Fire safety Principles (Key Trainer), Level 2 Award in Health and Safety and The Royal Institute of Public Health Certificate in Food Hygiene.

Aimee Barnes

About Aimee

Aimee has previously worked in a variety of industries including travel, pest control and cosmetic surgery. Her previous roles have included Cabin Crew, Sales Advisor and most recently, Patient Services Administrator and PA.

Here at Excelcare, Aimee is responsible for the administration of the estates and facilities team.

Glenda Barker

Quality & Development Manager

About Glenda

Glenda joined Excelcare in 2017 having worked in senior management roles within the NHS and the Social Care sector for nearly 50 years. Glenda has a Level 5 Management and Leadership Award,  Diploma in Dementia Care, a post-graduate degree and ENB Award in Clinical Practice and a higher-level degree in Project Management. Glenda  worked on a voluntary basis in Armenia and was the Design Lead for a new NHS Hospital Trust PFI project for 8 years. In 2012 Glenda was the Registered Manager of the Year (London) at the British Care Awards.

Glenda leads team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Linda Lewis

Quality & Development Manager

About Linda

Linda joined Excelcare in November 2017. Linda has extensive knowledge and experience in caring for older people and has worked in the care sector for over 25 years as a Home Manager, Area Manager and in Quality & Compliance. Linda holds Diplomas in Management and in Health & Social Care.

Linda assists the Essex region in achieving best practice care deliverables.

Gloria Read

Regional Learning & Development Manager

About Gloria

Gloria joined Excelcare in 2005, having worked in the care sector since 1986 in a variety of roles. Gloria has a Diploma in Dementia, City Guilds NVQ Levels 3 & 4. After completing her Registered Managers Award in 2004, Gloria achieved her City Guilds National Assessors Award A1 & PTLLS. Gloria is a qualified ‘Dementia Person-Centred Care’ trainer and has achieved NVQ 2 and 3 in Dementia Care.

Gloria’s role is providing ongoing training, support and development of team members.

Lesley Pitt

About Lesley

Lesley joined Excelcare in September 2010, after working in the insurance industry for over 20 years in various roles including credit control management and Human Resources. Lesley has a Business and Administration Diploma Level  3.

Lesley works to ensure admin processes are followed to an impeccable standard across the region.

About Claire

Claire joined Excelcare in June 2019 as the Recruitment Lead for the Essex region. Claire has an NVQ in Health and Social Care and in Business and Administration. Claire has over nine years experience in the care industry, starting  as a support worker and working her way up into the recruitment division for the care industry.

Claire works as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, facilitating effective staffing for the company.

Kendra Bray

About Kendra

Kendra has 29 years of experience working in the sales and marketing industry. Throughout her career, she has managed large teams and progressed to senior positions through her dedication and expertise. Kendra transitioned to work in the care sector 10 years ago, where she developed a passion for roles in this field.

Now working at Excelcare, Kendra supports teams working in our homes to improve the customer journey for people who are considering care for themselves, or their loved ones.

Alex Eley

Estates & Facilities Manager

About Alex

Alex has worked in the Essex region of Excelcare since October 2012. He brought with him the many skills required for his role which he obtained working with his father in his building business from the age of fifteen.

Alex is responsible for the management of contractors and suppliers to ensure the provision of high quality and efficient services are delivered, measured for KPIs, service reviews and that service improvement plans are in place and being implemented.

Karen Spicer

About Karen

Karen trained as a Registered General Nurse and after working in the NHS, moved to nursing in elderly care homes before becoming a care and nursing home manager and commissioning new care home services. Karen is also a qualified coach and trainer for the care industry and has worked in creating and delivering training to teams in care, nursing homes and domiciliary care services.

Tanya Coles

About Tanya

Tanya has over 25 years’ experience as a registered nurse and has worked across surgical and ICU services within the  NHS services most recently in the Liver transplants services. Tanya is a qualified trainer and assessor and has a passion for education and supporting others to achieve their potential.

Tanya has worked with Excelcare for 10 years and remains excited to work with teams across the region to develop services and people to deliver high-quality care.

Raul Diego

Regional Learning and Development Trainer

About Raul

Raul joined the Excelcare family in 2021 and has over 15 years of experience in Health and Social Care, mainly working in the educational and therapeutic departments of Mental Health and Dementia organisations.

Raul is a qualified teacher and Educational Psychologist. Currently, Raul leads the Learning and Development department at the London Region, making sure the team members receive high quality training and are fully supported on the development of their careers.

Tahir Butt

Maintenance Manager

About Tahir

Tahir joined Excelcare in 2018, having worked as a contractor for fifteen years. He has a degree in Economics and Education and is a qualified Gas Engineer. He is responsible for planning and implementing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, installation and modification of building construction and repair in an efficient and timely manner through effective management of the maintenance department.


Tahir is responsible for maintaining and initiating all health, safety and environmental standards, managing projects within budget and deadlines and maintenance of production equipment.

Aditee Naik

About Aditee

Aditee has been working with Excelcare Holdings since 2010. She worked as Home Manager of Peartree Care Home from 2012, beginning her current position as Deputy Regional Operations Director in 2022.

Aditee has completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University. Prior to working in care, Aditee worked in child development and healthcare and in the private banking sector.

Natalia Popa

About Natalia

Natalia’s passion for recruitment and customer relations can be traced back to when she started her career as a Fitness Sales Advisor. It was here that she realised that she is particularly enthusiastic about connecting with people and building professional relationships.

She then pursued a career in PR and social media marketing within the Healthcare industry for almost five years before deciding to change careers.  She became a qualified CIPD Associate and worked as an HR and Recruitment Assistant, before joining Excelcare in 2022 as Regional Recruitment Lead for London.

Natalia is very passionate about connecting with people and building trust-driven relationships between Excelcare and the people that she recruits.

Danni Gwenzi

About Danni

Danni joined Excelcare in 2008 as a Nurse and was later promoted to a Unit Manager, of the Nursing Unit at Water Hall Care Home. She was appointed as General Manager of Water Hall in May 2011 and held this position until May 2015, when she was promoted to Milton Keynes Regional Head of Care. She has 16 years’ experience of working in the Health Care Sector and qualified as an RGN in 2001, worked in the Acute Sector on various wards for 2 years then joined a private care home in 2004 as an RGN Team Leader.


Danni plays a critical role in driving the quality of our care from a best practice perspective and deliver new strategies as and when required.

Gale Hills

Regional Administration Manager

About Gale

Gale was appointed Regional Administrator for the Milton Keynes region in 2010 after working for Excelcare as a Home Administrator. Previously Gale worked in the Finance Department of the Waste Management sector where she gained her AAT and NVQ 2 qualification. She went onto work for Contaminated Land Department as Personal Assistant to the CLS Director.

Gale’s role is to provide administrative support across all the regions homes to ensure all admin tasks are completed to the highest standard.

About Gary

Gary joined Excelcare early in 2021 bringing with him 40 years of experience within the construction industry. With a plumbing and mechanical bias, Gary technically has the knowledge and experience to find solutions to problems or faults.  With the assistance of his team and his expertise in supporting multiple businesses in the past his advanced skill set will help with the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance.

Maintaining high quality by developing an effective team has proven in the past to aid delivery of projects so with his Gary’s communication skills is able to motivate while collaborating with all members of our teams.

As Regional Maintenance Manager, he is happiest when coordinating projects within our homes and maintaining the extremely high standards expected by residents and their families. Our enthusiastic team are a confident bunch and with his supervision will meet daily challenges head on.
