About Osman

Osman (Ozzie) Ertosun started the Excelcare group back in 1989 when he opened Bowood Care Home in Catford. He built this home from the ground up and despite nine months with no admissions, he persevered and made it a place that was renowned for its quality care services and passionate team members.

Since the opening of Bowood, Ozzie has grown Excelcare across the midlands and south-east with a total of 32 care homes currently operating in London, Milton Keynes, Essex and Cambridge.
Ozzie has maintained the family-centred approach through this time, making Excelcare homes a place where people want to live and work.

His role now involves working closely with key stakeholders within the organisation, assessing our services and supporting their success through making improvements. Ozzie remains hands-on in his role, often taking time to join relatives and residents for meetings and events, as well as hosting wellbeing interviews for team members across the service to gain their valuable insights.

Sam Manning

About Sam

Sam joined Excelcare in 1993 and has been a valuable member of the team ever since. Sam’s role develops, refines and implements operational strategies, taking responsibility for the management, overall quality and efficiency of the group, ensuring that we deliver an outstanding service that is person-centred, focused and efficient at all times. 

Sam also leads by example, playing a critical role in shaping and guiding the future growth and development of Excelcare.

About Osa

Osa joined Excelcare in 2005 as a HR professional with over 20 years’ experience from a range of industries. Osa has a comprehensive and strategic understanding of key business functions and has experience devising and implementing human resources programs.  

As part of the senior management team at Excelcare, Osa is responsible for People Operations across the group, ensuring new-joiners are inducted correctly and existing team members are motivated to do their best every day.

Wendy Cowell
Director of Care, Quality and Governance

About Wendy

Wendy has over 25 years of experience in the care industry. After qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1997, Wendy has spent the course of her career working in NHS and private Care Homes.

Wendy has also spent time running her own business, helping homes that have achieved inadequate, or RI ratings to get back on the path to good and outstanding ratings and has a track record of achieving excellent result.

Lorna Lynch

Director of Finance

About Lorna

Lorna began her career in Accountancy practice, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. Prior to joining Excelcare, Lorna gained over 20 years of accounting experience working in a wide range of industries, most recently in the Insurance and Education sectors.

Lorna joined Excelcare as Head of Finance & Business Partners in November 2019 and is currently in the role of Interim Finance Director.

Her role as Interim Finance Director is to lead the Finance team and the Finance Transformation Project. The overall object is to ensure we continue to operate on a strong financial basis, delivering accurate, timely reporting and analysis, with the emphasis on continual improvement of processes, outputs and controls.

Sadie Munro

Director of Communications, Engagement & Marketing

About Sadie

Sadie Munro is an accomplished marketing professional with a decade of experience in the field. She has been a valued member of the Excelcare team for the past six years. As Director, Sadie is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales, marketing, engagement, and wellbeing initiatives for Excelcare.

Sadie is highly skilled in developing and implementing marketing strategies that are both effective and innovative. Sadie's ability to stay on top of sector trends and emerging technologies has enabled Excelcare to remain ahead of other providers in the care sector.

In addition to her marketing expertise, Sadie is also a passionate advocate for employee engagement and wellbeing. She believes that a company's success is directly tied to the happiness and wellbeing of its employees. Under Sadie's direction, Excelcare has implemented a number of programs and initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement and wellbeing, and continues to work on many exciting projects for future release.

Sadie's commitment to excellence and her dedication to her work has helped to create a culture of innovation, collaboration, and growth at the company, and she is widely regarded as a key contributor to Excelcare's ongoing success.

Heather Carter

About Heather

Helen started her career in care as a Care Assistant and progressed through a variety of different roles, including Deputy Manager, Registered Home Manager, and Operations Director. Helen's career also spans roles in private healthcare, local authority healthcare, and complex care, supporting adults and children. Her wide range of knowledge and skills makes Heather a valuable asset to our homecare team.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys reading books and spends lots of time caring for her mother.

Fun fact about Helen: "When I was younger, I was convinced one day I would open up my wardrobe and be able to climb into Narnia. My Mum always used to know where to find me if I disappeared and was quiet….in the wardrobe."

Helen's favourite piece of life advice is, "Spread a little kindness wherever you go and smile."

Jayne Masterson

Cambridge Operations Director

About Jayne

Jayne has an impressive background in the health and social care, and hospitality sectors. Starting at Ashville House Residential Home, she progressed from a senior role to Registered Manager in 2007, achieving milestones such as a Certificate in Management Studies, NVQ 4 in Social Care, and a Registered Manager's Award.

In 2014, she managed multiple homes for a corporate care provider, eventually becoming a Regional Director overseeing a minimum of 11 care homes. During this time, she contributed to commissioning a new care home and earned a Level 5 Diploma. In 2021, as an Area Director in another large care provider, Jayne oversaw homes in Luton, Dunstable, Surrey, and later supported in Cambridge and Peterborough.

Joining Excelcare in August 2022 as Group Operations Lead, Jayne also took charge of Castlemead Court Care Home. With a proven leadership track record and a commitment to people’s wellbeing, Jayne's diverse background and dedication ensure a promising future for the 10 homes in Excelcare's Cambridge region.

Marianne Fleming

Essex Operations Director

About Marianne

Marianne has worked in the social care sector for over 30 years and during this time, has supported older people, people living with complex needs and individuals living with mental health conditions. Time in these roles provided Marianne with a wealth of experience which she carried forward into Regional Operations roles over the next 11 years.

 

Now working with Excelcare, Marianne will use her wealth of experience to lead with compassion and a person-centered approach to improve the life of Mr Bailey and his friends - Excelcare’s ethos for viewing each person as an individual.

Celia Hardill

London & Milton Keynes Operations Director 

About Celia

Celia has been working in a professional capacity in Social Care and Nursing for over 16 years. She is a Registered Nurse and qualified in 2007 at Southbank University in London.

She has operated at Regional Manager and Director level since 2012 and in her most recent role she was responsible for the leadership of 76 Care homes, both nursing and residential.

Celia has a genuine passion for working with older people and joined the Excelcare Family on the 2nd June 2021.

In her role at Excelcare, Celia is responsible for ensuring each care home in the Milton Keynes region is running smoothly, adhering to legislation and continuously working on service improvement and best practice.

About Michael

Michael has almost 15 years of experience working in the IT industry and is an expert in the effective management of IT systems.

His role at Excelcare involves leading a team to develop infrastructures, systems and provide technical support to team members across the group. His work aims to improve workplace efficiency through system updates whilst looking for ways to reduce operating costs.

Steve Parker

About Steve

Steve joined Excelcare in 2019.  Prior to Excelcare, he has 20 years’ accounting experience in a variety of industries, the past 8 have been spent within the care sector.

Currently, Steve is project managing the implementation and roll-out of three systems within the finance department which will transform the way the department runs and administratively supports the business.

Petrina Faulkner

About Petrina

Petrina joined Excelcare Cambridge in August 2021 and has worked in the care sector since 1991.  She has had various roles within the care sector from a Carer to Home Manager.

Petrina has also worked as a trainer for the care sector, teaching various courses surrounding Dementia Care, End of Life, Mental Health Awareness, Emergency First Aid, Moving and Positioning, Medication Administration, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Infection Control along with all other mandatory courses.

Petrina’s qualifications include a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement Diplomas and Apprenticeships Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5, Level 3 BTEC Advanced Award in Manual Handling, a Certificate in embedding Maths and English in Apprentices, Education and Training Certificate in Safeguarding, a Level 2 Award in Fire safety Principles (Key Trainer), Level 2 Award in Health and Safety and The Royal Institute of Public Health Certificate in Food Hygiene.

Liana Dordai

About Liana

Liana trained as an Adult Registered Nurse in Romania over 20 years ago and has gained experience working in various acute and critical care settings, within the NHS and private sector. Liana has held positions of Clinical Leader in transplant surgery theatres and Coordinator in traumatic brain injury research studies. In the care sector she worked her way up from Healthcare Assistant to managerial positions, leading by example and being a role model to her team.  Liana joined Excelcare as a Quality and Development Manager in June 2020

 

Her role is to lead team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

About Ozcan

Ozcan began his career in recruitment in 2001, as a Recruitment Consultant and worked his way up to becoming a Regional Manager of a large recruitment agency. He then set up his own recruitment business which he ran for 5 years. He started working for Excelcare in 2013
with over 10 years working within the Care Sector.

Ozcan is responsible for recruiting for the Cambridge Region, working closely with the Home Managers and other team members to recruit all new staff for their homes.

Vanessa Dodd

About Vanessa

Vanessa started her career in care in the mid-eighties and has had various roles from a Care Assistant to Assistant Manager. Vanessa transferred to Excelcare in 2001 as an Administrator and has been Regional Administrator for over 10 years.  Vanessa has an NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration.


Vanessa ensures the smooth running of administration processes across the region.

Caragh Johnson

About Caragh

Caragh began her career in the care sector in 2001 as a Care Assistant in her local care home. She qualified as an Adult Registered Nurse in 2007 and has acquired experience working in various nursing settings in the private sector. Caragh has worked her way up from Registered Nurse to Clinical Lead, management and inspection positions within Health and Social Care and has attained her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.

Caragh joined Excelcare as a Quality and Development Manager in January 2021.

Her role is to lead team members in delivering high quality care to all residents across the region

Sreenath Velikkakathu Lal

About Sreenath

Sreenath trained as a Registered Nurse in India over 15 years ago. He gained experience in various acute and emergency Multispecialty settings in India before moving to UK in 2011. He joined Excelcare as a registered nurse in 2012 and has had experience in adult social care for the past 10 years. He has been working as a clinical lead for the past three years in one of the Excelcare homes in Cambridge. Sreenath attained a Level-5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and joined the regional team in May 2023

Sreenath’s role is to enable team members across the region in delivering high-quality care to all the individuals they support.

Alex Eley

About Alex

Alex has worked in the Essex region of Excelcare since October 2012. He brought with him the many skills required for his role which he obtained working with his father in his building business from the age of fifteen.

Alex is responsible for the management of contractors and suppliers to ensure the provision of high quality and efficient services are delivered, measured for KPIs, service reviews and that service improvement plans are in place and being implemented across Cambridge and Essex.

Sarah joined Excelcare in 2018 with lots of experience in business administration.

She began her career with Excelcare as a Home Administrator in one of our care homes before joining the regional team as Estates and Facilities Administrator.

About Tadas

Tadas has worked in the Maintenance Team for over 10 years, supporting care homes in Cambridge to improve the environments in which they deliver care and being a key support for team members, ensuring any reported issues with equipment or utilities are resolved promptly.

Tadas enjoys solving problems, especially with the use of technology and his friends know him for his unique sense of humour.

Tadas plans to continue his career with Excelcare and continue his role as a valuable member of the team.

Glenda Barker

About Glenda

Glenda joined Excelcare in 2017 having worked in senior management roles within the NHS and the Social Care sector for nearly 50 years. Glenda has a Level 5 Management and Leadership Award,  Diploma in Dementia Care, a post-graduate degree and ENB Award in Clinical Practice and a higher-level degree in Project Management. Glenda  worked on a voluntary basis in Armenia and was the Design Lead for a new NHS Hospital Trust PFI project for 8 years. In 2012 Glenda was the Registered Manager of the Year (London) at the British Care Awards.

Glenda leads team members in delivering high-quality care and to all residents across the region.

Linda joined Excelcare in November 2017. Linda has extensive knowledge and experience in caring for older people and has worked in the care sector for over 25 years as a Home Manager, Area Manager and in Quality & Compliance. Linda holds Diplomas in Management and in Health & Social Care.

About Gloria

Gloria joined Excelcare in 2005, having worked in the care sector since 1986 in a variety of roles. Gloria has a Diploma in Dementia, City Guilds NVQ Levels 3 & 4. After completing her Registered Managers Award in 2004, Gloria achieved her City Guilds National Assessors Award A1 & PTLLS. Gloria is a qualified ‘Dementia Person-Centred Care’ trainer and has achieved NVQ 2 and 3 in Dementia Care.

Gloria’s role is providing ongoing training, support and development of team members.

About Rebecca

Rebecca joined the Excelcare family in 2021 and has over 20 years of experience in Health and Social Care. She started her career as a Healthcare Assistant and worked her way up to Home Manager, before joining Excelcare as a Regional Learning and Development Lead.

One of Rebecca’s main roles is to ensure Excelcare visions and values are embedded across the region. Rebecca delivers high-quality training to all new and existing team members and ensures they are fully supported in the development of their careers.

Tahir Butt

About Tahir

Tahir joined Excelcare in 2018, having worked as a contractor for fifteen years. He has a degree in Economics and Education and is a qualified Gas Engineer. He is responsible for planning and implementing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, installation and modification of building construction and repair in an efficient and timely manner through effective management of the maintenance department.


Tahir is responsible for maintaining and initiating all health, safety and environmental standards, managing projects within budget and deadlines and maintenance of production equipment.

About Raul

Raul joined the Excelcare family in 2021 and has over 15 years of experience in Health and Social Care, mainly working in the educational and therapeutic departments of Mental Health and Dementia organisations.

Raul is a qualified teacher and Educational Psychologist. Currently, Raul leads the Learning and Development department at the London Region, making sure the team members receive high quality training and are fully supported on the development of their careers.

Larysa has been with Excelcare for 17 years.

She qualified as a nurse in her homeland of Ukraine and during her time with us, has undertaken a number of roles within the company, most recently being promoted from her position of Deputy Manager to Regional Operations Support Lead.

She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Patrick joined Excelcare in April 2023. Patrick has a background in carpentry and brings with him a vast range of knowledge and skills.

Danni Gwenzi

About Danni

Danni joined Excelcare in 2008 as a Nurse and was later promoted to a Unit Manager, of the Nursing Unit at Water Hall Care Home. She was appointed as General Manager of Water Hall in May 2011 and held this position until May 2015, when she was promoted to Milton Keynes Regional Head of Care. She has 16 years’ experience of working in the Health Care Sector and qualified as an RGN in 2001, worked in the Acute Sector on various wards for 2 years then joined a private care home in 2004 as an RGN Team Leader.


Danni plays a critical role in driving the quality of our care from a best practice perspective and deliver new strategies as and when required.

Jeanna Short

About Jeanna

Jeanna joined Excelcare in June 2014. Her role includes providing support to the Maintenance Manager and his team, ensuring all external service records/visits are up-to-date.

Kirsty Albans-Bancroft

About Kirsty

Kirsty started her career with Excelcare in 2019 after working in the retail industry for over 15 years in various roles including store management and gained a NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service.

Her first role with Excelcare was a receptionist in which she gained a wealth of knowledge about the homes within the Milton Keynes Region.

Kirsty was appointed Regional Administration Manager in December 2022. Kirsty’s role is to provide administrative support across the region to ensure all admin tasks are completed to the highest standard.
