Our dedicated and skilled team, many of whom live nearby in Harlow, Chelmsford and Stanstead, provide a range of long-term and respite care, including residential, residential dementia, nursing and end of life care.

Our home is spacious, comfortable and attractive, designed with the wellbeing and happiness of those we care for in mind. 

With over 30 years’ experience in designing and building care homes, our family-run company has paid great attention to the environment, ensuring our home is tastefully decorated and beautifully appointed throughout whilst maintaining a warm and homely feel.

Our welcoming communal spaces, which include a cinema room and nine lounge and dining areas are light, airy and provide the perfect place to sit and socialise with friends and visitors or take part in one of the many activities and events on offer.

Our spacious and fully-furnished en-suite rooms provide a welcoming space for the people leave here. They are encouraged to personalise them with their own photographs, ornaments, books and if they wish, small items of furniture so they feel right at home. 

Many of our rooms overlook our gorgeous garden with its wildlife-attracting duck pond or the open parkland next door, making it a perfectly tranquil spot to rest and enjoy nature at its best.

An engaging place to live

The Abbot philosophy of creating a comfortable home where residents feel they belong also includes providing stimulation, companionship and interest through an ongoing events programme.

In partnership with the people who live here, our Lifestyle Coordinators plan an incredibly rich and varied calendar that draws on our residents’ current and former interests, as well as creating opportunities to try new things. 

As well as card nights and film afternoons, reminiscence sessions, Scrabble tournaments and knitting club, we have arts and crafts sessions, movement to music in our exercise dance club and even karaoke – to great acclaim! 

We also offer inclusive activities for residents who are living with dementia or are nursed in bed, through our interactive sensory therapy sessions.

At Abbot, we place great emphasis on supporting the people who live with us to remain as active and fit as possible, with our light and airy gym and on-site physiotherapist. Complete with a wide range of equipment, residents regularly enjoy keeping fit during our light exercise classes and personalised one-to-one therapy sessions.

We believe remaining an active part of our local community is key to the continued wellbeing of our residents. Our intergenerational programme sees children from local schools visit to share time with residents, playing games, chatting and sometimes even singing or playing music. 

We also love our regular trips out to local attractions as well as visiting entertainers, local churches and welcoming the local community into the home throughout the year for a variety of events and seminars – look out locally for details of our upcoming celebrations! And the undisputed favourite activity in our home? The weekly visits from a Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog.
