Abbot Care Centre
Abbot Care Centre is a 117 bed purpose built care home in Harlow, Essex providing permanent and respite care in a residential setting. Accommodation is provided for people with Nursing and Social Care Needs as well as for people living with dementia. All areas of the home are accessible for wheelchair users.
Abbot Care Centre is registered with Care Quality Commission to provide the following activities:
- Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care
- Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
Abbot Care Centre is conveniently situated in the town of Harlow, which is close to the M25. It has good public transport links and is close to a number of amenities, including local shops.
Home Manager – Donna Johnson
Donna has 45 years’ experience in the health care sector, with a career which has involved both elderly and people living with a learning disability. Over the last 25 years Donna has held senior management positions.
Prior to joining Excelcare Donna held the position of Quality director for a medium sized care provider in Essex.
Donna is motivated each day in providing a safe and fulfilling day to the residents who have entrusted their care to us and to ensure that quality and customer care is at the forefront of everything.
Care Manager – Anjana Palle
Anjana Joined Abbot Care Centre in January 2018. She has over 14 years working within the care industry firstly in the NHS as a registered nurse from 2004 till 2014. She later went on to join BUPA as a Deputy Manager in their homes from 2014 till Dec 2017 where she then became a part of Abbots.
Home Administrator – Helen Turner
I joined Abbot Care Centre in 2012 after 31 years at Natwest where I gained experience in all aspects of admin and spent time working in HR team in London.
At Abbot Care Centre we have two Activity Coordinators who discuss hobbies and interests with the people who live in the home. They organize group activities and outings and ensure items are available to provide meaningful activity. A full programme of events is displayed clearly in each unit. Activities include:
- Arts & crafts
- My Life activity
- In-house entertainment
- Outings and picnics
- Movement to music
- Film afternoons
- Knitting circle
- Card games
- Weekly visits from our pet dog
The local community plays a vital role ensuring people keep in touch with their local area. For example visits from local places of worship and schools. We like to celebrate special occasions at Abbot, for example, Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
