Our dedicated and skilled team, many of whom live locally in Chigwell, Ilford and Walthamstow, provide a range of respite care and long-term care including residential care, residential dementia care, nursing care, nursing dementia care and end of life care

We are also able to support people who are living with dementia and have high dependency needs. We are committed to supporting the on-going health, wellbeing and happiness of all of the people who live in our attractive and beautifully furnished care home.

“We wanted to thank you personally for all that you did to help and support us during our mother's time at Sherrell House. You were wonderful when she arrived from A&E, helping settle her in and supporting us through an emotional experience. We have been so impressed by the standard of care and efficient organisation and are grateful to everyone who works there. We feel very fortunate as a family that Mum spent the last few months of her life in such an excellent care home.”

“Your staff are second to none and I cannot praise them enough. It gives me great peace of mind that he was so comfortable and well cared for. I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone needing care.”

Relative of Resident

“Thank you so much for all the wonderful care you provided to my Nan. You made the last phase in her life as good and comfortable as could possibly be. For that, I’m extremely grateful.”

Relative of Resident

“To all staff who knew and looked after dad so wonderfully in the hardest time of his life, you gave him the courage to carry on and encouraged his sometimes-wicked sense of humour. Thank you so much for all you did to make his last few months worthwhile.”

Relative of Resident

“Just to say thank you for welcoming me into Sherrell House this afternoon. I enjoyed my visit and loved the variety and exuberance of the activities you had on. I had a chance to talk with some of your staff, volunteers and residents which was lovely! The chocolate fountain was a hit with the Forest Academy students as well!”

Services and Support
A spacious and flexible place to live

Sherrell-Excelcare-Essex-21344.jpgSherrell House, is a modern, purpose-built home, designed to deliver care in a family-run environment which supports residents to lead a high quality of life

Our large, en-suite bedrooms, many of which have garden views, are at least 12m2, giving residents plenty of space to chat with friends and family who can visit at any time. Personalised with their own precious belongings, including small items of furniture if they wish, they also become familiar, homely places in which to relax.

Three of the bedrooms have interconnecting doors so that couples needing residential care can still live together, as well as having separate spaces to themselves.

With wide corridors and lifts to each floor, our variety of lounges, dining rooms and communal spaces are easily accessed and enjoyed, so whether it is pursuing a favourite pastime with friends or relaxing with a good book in one of our quiet areas – there’s something for everyone.

Mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day here at Sherrell House, where our talented chef and team prepare delicious home-cooked food every day, accommodating different tastes, dietary needs and cultural preferences.

Expert help and support from a committed team

Sherrell-Excelcare-Essex-27134.jpgOur highly skilled team members are on duty 24 hours a day, spending time with each resident and giving lots of attention, companionship and support.

By really getting to know the people who live with us, we are able to provide person-centred care which is tailored, not only to each individual’s health needs, but also their likes, dislikes and personal preferences.

We offer various holistic therapies to improve peace of mind and wellbeing which are particularly beneficial for residents living with dementia.

Our sensory room is a relaxing and calm haven which helps to boost cognitive ability and stimulate the senses. Much like our landscaped gardens which include raised planters and a large wheelchair-friendly greenhouse, to enable our green-fingered residents to enjoy a spot of light gardening.

There are also regular visits from animals that bring joy, comfort and companionship to residents who enjoy their company, stroking and petting them.

An engaging and sociable place to live

Sherrell-Excelcare-Essex-21325.jpgAt Sherrell House, we encourage residents to maintain existing interests and hobbies as well as developing new ones through a varied calendar of activities – heightening a sense of belonging and promoting movement, sociability and cognitive ability.

Our art and cooking sessions allow residents to experiment with their creativity and improve their skills, as well as often teaching our team a thing or two! Our popular bingo and quiz sessions, often hosted in our very own Queen Victoria Bar, bring people together for light-hearted, lively afternoons.

Weekly exercise and dance classes add to the fun, and we play bowls and take picnics in the park. We also have close links with a local school where a number of residents have become friends of the pupils. They regularly write to each other, visit the home to spend time together and residents also visit the school to watch their plays.

We enjoy welcoming visits from various groups and entertainers as well as inviting members of the community into our home to spend time with residents during one of our events throughout the year – look out locally for our upcoming celebrations.
