When friends and families visit Goldenley Care Home, they often comment on how ‘at home’ the residents look and feel.
This is because our team members, many of whom live locally in areas such as Benfleet, Canvey Island and Basildon, are dedicated to creating an atmosphere that is warm and friendly – supporting the residents to feel as happy, comfortable and independent as possible.
From our range of activities, developed in partnership with residents, to regular celebrations and welcoming families each day - we pride ourselves on creating a home from home, underpinned by exceptional residential, residential dementia and end of life care.
Goldenley is tucked away in a tranquil location overlooking open parkland, surrounded by gardens with sunny patio areas. With 41 rooms – including two shared rooms for couples – we are a close-knit community that holds sociability, comfortable living and expert, person-centred care close to our hearts.
Our lounges and dining rooms provide the perfect place to socialise with fellow residents and visitors and our soothing sensory room is the perfect place to rejuvenate and relax.
We respect our residents’ individuality and encourage them to make their room their own, bringing personal belongings, treasured possessions or small items of furniture, helps to create a place that is familiar and comfortable.
As our care home is arranged over on one level, it enables those with mobility needs to access all of our interesting facilities including the charming walled garden, three patios and quiet areas - adding to Goldenley’s unique sense of tranquillity.
As a family-run care home, we are dedicated to creating an environment which supports residents to have a pleasant, enjoyable and high quality of life with us.
Our compassionate and skilled team contribute to Goldenley’s home-from-home ambiance.
Many have been part of our team for a number of years and feel more like an extended family, spending time with residents and contributing to their quality of life, while offering a high level of professional care.
Our two excellent cooks deserve a standing ovation for their tasty menus! They prepare daily meals, in partnership with our residents, using fresh ingredients and expertly catering to specific dietary requirements and tastes. We are great believers in providing good nutrition and creating a great mealtime experience in order to promote wellbeing and the catering team is instrumental to this.
We also value our close working relationships with community professionals such as Opticians and Chiropodists, who visit residents regularly and support them with their health needs.
Our home features a Day Care Centre on the first floor, where our trained team members support elderly people from the local community. Open from 9.30am to 3.30pm, its position within the home enables those attending to engage in activities and events with residents, developing interests and friendships.
Our in-house Lifestyle Coordinators have a busy and rewarding role. After spending time with residents and those closest to them, talking about hobbies and interests, they put together a brilliant programme of individual and group activities. Everything is planned to stimulate the minds of the people who live with us and encourage relationship-building in the home, as well as helping residents to feel happy and fulfilled.
Our activities include everything from cooking classes to re-inspire culinary interests, arts and crafts for creativity and quizzes and games to promote cognitive skills, whilst regular visits from local hairdressers ensure the residents are left feeling relaxed and pampered.
We also have a variety of activities specifically tailored to the residents living with dementia such as music therapy, reminiscence sessions and the popular Namaste Care programme, which focuses on stimulating the senses to promote positive wellbeing.
Continuing to play an active part in our local community is key to the residents’ sense of purpose and belonging so we encourage and organise regular visits from local groups, host a variety of community events throughout the year and hold various intergenerational activities with local schools which are always a big hit. Another popular visitor is our Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog, whose charm is never lost on our residents!
