Limetree Care Home continues to strengthen the support it offers to residents and their families through a new initiative designed to encourage meaningful conversations between relatives and the home's management team.
As part of this initiative, families were invited to enjoy a relaxed Cheese & Wine Evening, creating an inclusive environment where relatives could meet the team, share their experiences and discuss the realities of supporting a loved one living with dementia.
The event provided an opportunity for open and honest conversations, allowing families to speak about both the challenges and rewards of the dementia journey. Many relatives found reassurance in connecting with others facing similar experiences, while the care team was able to offer guidance, understanding and a listening ear in a warm, welcoming environment.
Alongside a selection of cheeses and refreshments, the evening was filled with conversation, laughter and shared experiences. Families commented on how valuable it was to have dedicated time to speak openly, ask questions and build stronger relationships with the team caring for their loved ones.
The initiative reflects Limetree Care Home's commitment to person-centred care that extends beyond residents to include those closest to them. By creating opportunities for families to come together, the home aims to strengthen communication, build trust and ensure relatives feel supported throughout every stage of their loved one's dementia journey.
The positive response from those who attended highlighted the importance of providing spaces where families feel heard, understood and connected. Limetree Care Home looks forward to continuing this initiative with future events that promote
Speaking about the initiative, Home Manager Philip Mathew said, “Dementia may change the way families connect, but with compassion, understanding and support, we at Limetree Care Home are bringing families together so that no one has to face this journey alone.”
