Our Person-Centred Approach
At Excelcare, people come first—always. We champion independence, dignity and choice in every moment, placing each person at the heart of everything we do. You are an individual, not a timetable or a task, and your comfort, care, safety and wellbeing guide every decision we make.
Our mission is simple and sincere: to create more great memories for you and your family. Your story matters—your routines, hobbies, beliefs and the people you love. We shape care around your life story, hopes and wishes, and we keep talking with you and those close to you so your plan naturally evolves as your needs or preferences change. Nothing is set in stone; we adapt with you.

Our purpose is your purpose
With family values at our heart, we’ll support you to live life to the full—days filled with possibility, companionship and joy. You can be confident that skilled, friendly support is there whenever you want it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Quiet mornings, busy afternoons, familiar comforts and new experiences—we’ll help you choose what each day looks like.
Choice & freedom
You remain firmly in control of your own life.
· Your way of life respected: Spiritual, cultural and social needs are recognised and supported.
· Staying connected made easy: Visitors are warmly welcomed, and outings are encouraged and arranged with you.
· Your consent matters: No care or treatment happens without your informed consent (or that of a legally authorised representative).
· Something for everyone: A varied programme of activities runs in and beyond the home, tailored to different interests and abilities.
· A genuine voice: Community Meetings, family forums and special-interest groups take place at least four times a year—online or face to face—so ideas turn into action.
· Your rights upheld: We take a human-rights-based approach to care, including supporting your right to vote and to make everyday choices.
Always you first
Care is done with you, not to you.
· Co-planning that feels natural: We listen carefully, agree goals together and review them regularly.
· Care that fits you: Support is personalised to your needs, preferences and pace—never one-size-fits-all.
· Dignity at the centre: Privacy when you want it, equality for all, and thoughtful support to stay as independent and community-connected as possible.
· Safety you can trust: You’re protected from abuse or improper treatment, including neglect, degrading treatment, unnecessary restraint or inappropriate restrictions.
· Risk managed sensibly: We balance safety with the freedom to live life fully, avoiding avoidable harm.
Responsive to your needs
You’ll always know what’s happening, and your feedback shapes what we do.
· Open communication: We keep you informed through newsletters and online updates and are here to talk—any time.
· Listening that leads to change: We actively seek comments from the people we care for, families and care partners, and we act on them.
· Plans that stay current: Care plans and risk assessments are updated dynamically as things change.
· My Day: A regular, structured opportunity for you (and your loved ones if you wish) to review your experience and agree next steps together.
Excellence in all that we do
Standards you can rely on, delivered with heart.
· People with purpose: Our teams are exceptionally well trained—chosen for their values first and staying because they are part of our family.
· Clear accountability: We deliver services in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009.
The cornerstone of our approach
We’re privileged to support remarkable people—cherished, accomplished and capable of continuing to achieve. We never define anyone by age or condition. Life is a journey, and we’ll travel it with you, enriching each step with choice, dignity and independence.
Our approach was shaped by Mr Bailey, whose warmth and wisdom reminded us to look beyond tick-boxes and focus on what truly makes a day feel good: care that dovetails with homely surroundings, good food, meaningful activities and genuine relationships. His story still guides our decisions and keeps empathy, kindness and compassion right at the centre.

Supporting individuality
No two people are the same, so no two care plans should be either. We get to know you well—your favourite breakfast, how you like your tea, the music that lifts your spirits, the things you find comforting and the goals you want to work towards. Together with you and your loved ones, we design a personalised plan that supports comfort, wellbeing, independence and opportunity—while protecting identity, choice and self-worth.

A dedicated, skilled team
You’ll meet kind, capable people who love what they do. Our teams are chosen for their values as well as their skills and receive ongoing training so our practice stays current and compassionate. You’ll see familiar faces each day—people who know you, notice the little things and take the time to listen.

“My Day” — your voice
My Day gives you dedicated time to focus on you.
· Review your care plan and everyday experiences (activities, dining, environment and more).
· Talk with key team members about what matters most to you now.
· Agree clear actions, with updates recorded by the team leader or nurse in charge and overseen by the manager.
· Involve relevant professionals (for example district nurses, GPs or dietitians) when helpful.
We’ll always find a date that suits you and your family.

A homely life, uniquely yours
We aim for true “home-from-home” warmth—welcoming, friendly and safe. Bring your favourite things, keep your routines, try something new when you fancy it, and enjoy spaces designed for comfort and independence. We take time to understand how health needs may affect your feelings and energy, then shape support gently around that.
