Modern, spacious and light, Okeley provides a range of respite care and long-term residential care as well as residential dementia care and end of life care.

Our purpose-built care home has been carefully designed to enable the special people who live here to lead a fulfilling life, where they are supported by our caring team, many of whom live locally in Chelmsford, Braintree and Witham, to live as independently as possible.

With large en-suite bedrooms, many of which overlook our charming gardens, plus plenty of communal and quiet spaces, the environment provides flexibility for the people who live with us to spend their time how they wish.

“From the moment I walked through the door I knew that this was absolutely where I wanted my mother to be. The building itself is beautiful, but the professionalism of your staff is outstanding. I truly felt I had landed in heaven. The care she received was the kind I could only have dreamt of. You cared for her, allowed her to keep her dignity but most of all you showed her love. I am still reeling at how kind everyone was. To say I am grateful would be the largest understatement I could make. I will be eternally grateful to you for making the unbearable bearable. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“My brother and I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Okeley. We always knew that my mother was safe, warm and loved. The staff who cared for her gave her so much time and affection – you gave us peace of mind during the last few years of her life.”

Relative of Resident

“My mum and I popped in for a look around visit…and I just want to say to you and your staff just how very, very impressed we both were with Okeley. The well laid out rooms are so tidy and clean and we loved all the different personalities of the rooms and fixtures and fittings.”

A spacious and beautifully designed home

Okeley - Excelcare-8866.jpgWhen people visit Okeley, one of the first things many comment on is our beautiful space. Purpose-built and family-run, our three floors are separated into five smaller care suites. This design gives the people who live with us access to the variety a larger home offers, whilst still enabling them to feel part of a small community.

Spacious en-suite bedrooms are at least 12m2 with luxury wet rooms, to support comfort and increased independence. The wide corridors and lifts give easy access to the dining rooms, which provide a welcoming setting for our mealtimes. The lounges are the perfect place to sit and chat with friends and visitors and our activity areas are always filled with fun and laughter.

We have a number of bedrooms with interconnecting doors that join two rooms together, so couples who require residential care can still be close to each other.

Outside, our four beautifully landscaped garden areas are designed with sensory stimulation in mind, colourful borders, scented plants and an attractive courtyard with water features. They provide the perfect place for our green-fingered individuals to enjoy a spot of light gardening, or to sit and enjoy their surroundings.

Every detail at Okeley has been carefully thought through to bring greater independence to the people who live with us and support a high quality of life.

Our kind approach to care

Okeley - Excelcare-8751.jpgAs part of our commitment to providing high-quality care in a positive and pleasant environment, our team members at Okeley have been carefully selected for their positive attitudes, dedication and caring nature.

Our team is trained to a high standard and takes great care in getting to know individuals’ likes, dislikes and preferences, enabling them to offer truly person-centred care and helping them to live their life the way they want to.

We encourage the people who live with us to spend time in our communal lounges, activity areas and social spaces to build friendships with like-minded people, whilst quieter areas are also available for those who prefer to sit and relax with a good book or a view of the gardens.

Mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day, where our dedicated catering team prepares appetising home-cooked dishes, which are based on our individuals’ likes and dislikes as well as their culinary needs and cultural preferences.

For those who live with dementia, we understand their sense of reality can be very different depending on how their condition affects them from moment-to-moment. As well as our sensitive and compassionate approach to care, we create opportunities for the people who live with us to reminisce – sharing fond memories and stories – as well as taking part in meaningful activities centred on positive experiences, wellbeing and fun.

Supporting individuals to stay active and engaged

Okeley - Excelcare-8528.jpgWe believe in the benefits of individuals having access to a variety of ways to stay active and engaged, so in partnership with them and those closest to them, our Lifestyle Coordinators build a varied programme of meaningful activities and events.

Supported to develop new skills and interests, as well as being able to maintain favourite hobbies and pastimes, people spend their time in a friendly, welcoming and happy environment.

From games, quizzes and musical afternoons in the home, to visits from local school children and regular day trips to places of interest, we also have entertainers come by to put on shows, inclusive arts and crafts sessions and visits from various different religious representatives.

A fun keep fit group caters to everyone, from the most active to those with limited movement, with the aim of keeping everyone mobile and happy.

Supporting people to remain an active part of their local community is also a key focus for us. We regularly go out and about for day trips to local places of interest as well as inviting the community into the home to take part in an array of events with our team and residents.
