Across the Excelcare family this June, we have been honouring Pride Month and celebrating members of the Excelcare family who identify as LGBTQ+.
Ensuring everyone who works and lives in our homes can be themselves and feel supported in doing so is a priority for us, so joining in with Pride Month enabled us to ensure these people, their beliefs and their way of life was celebrated – regardless of their gender, identity or orientation.
At The Willows Care Home in Milton Keynes, the team hosted a pride party!
Ahead of the event, they decorated a communal area with rainbow flags, colourful decorations and multi-coloured outfits. Residents were also welcomed to dress up and express themselves, so they were fully immersed in the party.
To host the event and provide entertainment, the team invited Drag Queen Capri Conceive to come and perform. She performed some popular songs from the past and had the whole room singing along. Residents got up on their feet, showed off their moves and even had a little jive with the team members.
Everyone in the room was laughing and smiling from cheek to cheek. They danced the afternoon away and as the party drew to a close, said a big thank you to Capri Conceive for hosting such a wonderful afternoon.
The aim of this party was for everyone to come together, celebrate each other as individuals and allow people to express themselves without fear of judgement. It’s safe to say they achieved that and had a wonderful time celebrating pride month together.
