Valerie was born in Peterborough where she lived with her mother, father and 9 siblings.
Valerie’s world was turned upside down at the age of three when both of her parents tragically passed away. She has some memories with her mum though and remembers she used to work at their local pub to help bring in some extra money for the family.
During her school years, Valerie said her favourite subject was P.E, as she liked being active and playing sports.
At the age of 21, Valerie married the man she fell in love with and together they had three children, Michael, Joanne and Valerie.
After her kids were all in school, Valerie began working in the local cinema. This is a job she loved doing and stayed in the role for 15 years. She never managed to get a free ticket though, as she had to sell tickets and ice creams during the performances. Valerie’s husband worked at an engineering firm called Perkins, which was also based in Peterborough.
She has many fond memories of family holidays, especially from trips to Devon, Norfolk and Cornwall. Valerie loved these holidays, but has never been on a plane or abroad before.
After living in Peterborough for all of her life, Valerie now lives at Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon. She dislikes spicy food, some vegetables and alcohol, but does enjoy watching classic movies and listening to Frank Sinatra. The rest of the time, Valerie can be found doing word puzzles or testing her knowledge in Quiz games.
