People living at Park Avenue Care Home recently enjoyed a lively trip to the Churchill Theatre to watch a pantomime performance of Robin Hood.

From the moment the group set off, there was a real sense of excitement and anticipation. Ten people attended the outing, and their adventure began as soon as they boarded the bus!

Helen, who is 101 years old, kept everyone entertained with her cheeky sense of humour, spreading smiles and laughter amongst the group. Her playful spirit quickly set the tone for a joyful and memorable day.

As they travelled through Market Square in Bromley, the sight and sounds sparked conversation. John recognised familiar streets and recalled some of the shops from years gone by. Therese also shared how she used to visit the area regularly for shopping trips, whilst keeping an eye on the group to make sure everyone stayed together.

Once seated inside the theatre, everyone was captivated by the spectacular singing, energetic dance routines, and dazzling costumes that brought Robin Hood to life. The experience quickly became more than just a show, as the group fully immersed themselves in the fun and laughter of the pantomime. Jackie could not resist dancing along from her seat, while John was seen laughing heartily at the classic pantomime jokes throughout the performance. Helen made the most of every opportunity to chat with the people around her, clearly enjoying the social side of the trip just as much as the show itself.

The outing was organised as part of Park Avenue Care Home’s ongoing commitment to helping people remain connected to their local community and continue enjoying meaningful experiences outside the home. Trips like this provide valuable opportunities for people to revisit familiar places, socialise, and enjoy the simple pleasures of everyday life.

The residents shared how much they loved the day, particularly the opportunity to be out and about together. One of the team said, “I think for them, just being out and getting on the bus was enough to feel part of a normal life and to feel connected.”

Judging by the smiles, laughter, and conversations on the journey home, the trip was a great success and left everyone looking forward to their next adventure together.

The team at Park Avenue Care Home would like to thank everyone involved in making the outing such a special occasion, including the dedicated team members who helped to create a day full of enjoyment, laughter, and lasting memories.
