Recently, the people living and working at Ashlyn Care Home in Essex celebrated a true milestone of a birthday. Maud, one of the women living at the home, turned 100 years old!
As this is such a magnificent age, the team knew that they had to make Maud’s day as special as possible, so they were sure to pull out all of the stops.
On the day, Maud’s room was decorated with birthday balloons, and she was presented with all of her gifts. Maud was gifted many things, including flowers, cards and a large plaque that read “Cheers to 100 years!”.
She then spent her day surrounded by friends and family and enjoyed a wonderful birthday tea party. There was plenty of tea and cakes, but the highlight of the sweet treats were the birthday cupcakes, that were laid out in the number 100.
One of the most exciting deliveries was a letter from the Queen, wishing Maud a fantastic 100th birthday. Maud read the letter with a smile on her face and felt honoured to have received a message from Her Royal Majesty herself. She also received a signed photo from Rod Stewart, which left her over the moon.
Maud had an absolutely wonderful day and thanked everyone for making it so lovely.
