During these unusual times, team members at Excelcare homes have been working hard to keep the residents engaged, active and in good spirits. To do this, they've been coming up new activities and putting twists on old ones, to create new and exciting ways for people to spend their time.
The homes have also been meeting the resident's requests where possible and safely bringing the outside in, by transforming rooms at the care home.
Isabella is a resident at Aliwal Manor, who recently said how nice it would be to go to a restaurant with her friends. Although this isn't possible at the moment, the team wanted to make her wish come true so they set about creating a dining room experience she would remember!
They laid the dining room table with their finest cutlery and some fresh flowers to finish it off. Just making these small changes to the room and readjusting the layout made a real difference and provided a welcome change of scenery.
When Isabella arrived with a few of her friends for their meal, they were all surprised to see how good it looked. They were very grateful for the teams' efforts and for making their wishes possible.
A bottle of bubbly was popped open to start the afternoon and as the residents waited for their cakes to arrive, they enjoyed chatting and laughing together. It was a positive afternoon that helped to keep spirits up at the home, which is especially important at the moment.
Restrictions have been put in place around the world and life has changed for many, so the team at Aliwal Manor are really trying to make events like this possible and limit the disruption to the resident's lives.
At the end of the day, Isabella said a big thank you to the team for hosting the session, but seeing the smile on her face made it worthwhile for all.
