At Windmill Lodge Care Home, Nurse Deborah is known for the dedication, kindness and compassion she brings to her role. With more than 30 years of nursing and midwifery experience across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Deborah has spent much of her life supporting others.

But her passion for helping people extends far beyond her work in the home. Alongside her nursing career, Deborah, also widely known as Chief Mrs Ayoyinka, is a philanthropist committed to supporting vulnerable people and communities through her charitable organisation, EDGSO.

For Deborah, caring for others is more than a profession. It is a commitment that reaches into communities around the world.

In September 2018, Deborah founded Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach (EDGSO), a non-profit organisation established to support disadvantaged communities through healthcare, essential supplies and community outreach.

Bringing together members from a wide range of professional backgrounds in Nigeria and across the world, EDGSO works to alleviate hardship and improve access to essential support for vulnerable people.

The organisation holds community giveaways up to six times a year, distributing food, clothing and children's essentials, particularly in rural communities. It also organises free medical outreach programmes, providing health checks, medical advice and medication to people who may otherwise struggle to access these services.

Through EDGSO, Deborah and her volunteers have supported vulnerable communities worldwide, providing earthquake relief in Turkey, aid to disadvantaged people in the USA, medical outreach in South Africa and assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Deborah's generosity is also felt closer to home. She extends her charitable spirit to the people living at Windmill Lodge by donating gift packages during seasonal celebrations to spread joy amongst the care home community. 

These thoughtful gifts bring smiles to residents' faces and offer a reminder of the difference small acts of kindness can make.
