We’re here to provide a safe, fun and nurturing home for people in and around Brixton who need a little extra support. Our dedicated team members get to know each individual to create a plan of care that is as individual as they are. We also host a varied range of meaningful activities to promote people’s wellbeing and independence.

My mum has always been excellently looked after with compassion, kindness, and empathy. Mum is always clean and tidy, and her room is spotless. The food is lovely, always freshly cooked with a good choice of menu each day. I can relax and feel less worried about mum knowing that she is in this safe and caring environment. I have nothing but huge praise for each and every member of staff for their valuable input in my mum's daily care.

Very happy with the care received here for our mother. Since she came to the care home she has been very well cared for by the nursing and personal care staff. There is a wonderfully relaxed 'buzz' about the place. Particularly impressed with the relationship with the local kindergarten, which brings smiles to everyone's faces.

Our dedicated approach to care has been reflected in our Beacon Status, the highest possible award given by the Gold Standards Framework for care to people nearing the end of their lives. We provide:

Our beautiful home provides a range of communal areas so that people can always spend their time doing things they enjoy. We have a number of open and airy lounges where people can chat with friends or catch up on their favourite TV programme, while our dining rooms provide the perfect setting in which to enjoy a variety of home-cooked delights during mealtimes.

Living with us and our approach
We always treat people with respect, dignity and compassion, ensuring we find out about each individual’s preferences and life history. We have replaced written care plans with an up-to-date electronic system that brings together all documentation in one place. This allows us to easily track each person’s needs and offer a more personalised approach to their care and support.
Therapy plays an important role in the ongoing wellbeing of the people who live here, so we regularly welcome therapy dogs into the home! We also hold our Namaste programme, which focusses on stimulating the senses, and promoting meaningful engagement and comfort. This is particularly beneficial to people who live with dementia.

Location and surroundings
On the Brixton/Clapham border in South London, Windmill Lodge is near the South Circular, between Brixton Hill (the A23) and the B221. Our closest station is Brixton, with overland Southeastern services as well as the Underground. We are also a short bus ride from Clapham Junction mainline station, with national rail connections.
Windmill Lodge is a 20-minute walk or five-minute bus ride to Brixton’s library, Ritzy cinema and an excellent shopping precinct, including the famous market that caters for the diverse local community.
