Abbot Care Home and Ashlyn Care Home are both based in Harlow, Essex and residents living in each were surprised this Christmas when they received presents from their local Dunelm store.
Dunelm in Harlow hosted the same scheme last year, which is titled, ‘Delivering Joy at Christmas’. This scheme involves customers donating Christmas presents to Dunelm, whose team then passes them on to important places in the community such as primary schools and care homes, spreading festive cheer and sparkle at Christmas.
Essex Sales, Marketing & Engagement Partner, Kendra Bray, got in touch with Dunelm earlier in the year to see if they would be hosting their Christmas campaign this year and was delighted to hear they would be. The store then asked Kendra for the first names, ages and hobbies of each resident – information that would be written on gift tags and placed on their Christmas tree in-store. Customers can then pick one of the tags and buy gifts based on the listed interests.
Just before the break for Christmas, Kendra was contacted by Dunelm, Harlow, who said they had collected lots of gifts for the people living at Abbot and Ashlyn! Teams from each home then accompanied Kendra to collect the Christmas presents and were all surprised that the gifts filled up three whole cars!
The generosity shown was unbelievable and the team shared their thanks to Dunelm for helping to make Christmas special for their local care home residents.
Gifts received from Dunelm were given out on Christmas day, and as you can see, the presents raised many smiles.
