Dovecote Manor is a modern, purpose-built care home and provides long-term residential, residential dementia and end of life care.

Situated in the town of Bletchley, just outside Milton Keynes and close to Bletchley Park, our intimate home has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that prides itself on giving consistently attentive and personalised care to residents and their families. We’re part of the local community too, with regular visits from local schools and team members living in the surrounding areas of Fishermead, Bucks and Buckinghamshire.

Our person-centred approach is at the heart of everything we do, we support the people who live here to choose how they spend their time, and carers develop a plan to cater for each individual’s needs. As a family-run home, it is this mindful and supportive philosophy that sets us apart from other care homes.

“Dovecote Manor has an open house policy where family and friends can visit as often as they like. The home is well run and all staff are friendly and professional. I couldn’t be happier knowing that my mum is being so cared for in this lovely home.”

Relative of Resident

“The carers are carers in the true sense of the word: they care for their clients just as a family would – and become part of your extended family. I had many sleepless nights regarding my father’s care until the day he arrived at Dovecote.”

Relative of Resident

“Arriving unannounced to have a look around Dovecote Manor, we were given a very warm welcome. Everywhere was so clean and the atmosphere very happy. We looked at other homes but this one stood out. We were over the moon when we were offered a place.”

Relative of Resident

“Dovecote Manor's staff and management made myself and Mum very welcome. They take good care of Mum, reassuring her about things she is anxious about and they always do their best to sort out any problems quickly. Staff are friendly, caring and support the family when you need it.”

Relative of Resident

“I have visited my relative at least fortnightly for the last three years and at all times the staff are caring, friendly and attentive. They deserve medals.”

A small, friendly community

Dovecote - Excelcare-1378.jpgDovecote Manor is a modern care home with a big heart. With just 42 beds, we’re small enough for everyone to know each other well and have their voices heard, giving our community a very inclusive and harmonious atmosphere.

Our team members are fully committed to helping individuals live life to the full, promoting independent living as much as possible, while reassuring residents that help is on hand around the clock.

Each of our bedrooms have en-suite facilities, further supporting independence and we encourage everyone to decorate their rooms to their own personal taste with treasured possessions, creating a real home from home.

We have a wide range of comfortable communal areas, including living rooms, a café, sensory room, reminiscence room and gardens, giving residents a variety of ways to spend their day.

Our activities room is always full of fun and laughter, with a full programme of events that residents can choose to get involved with – or equally, relax in one of our calming quiet rooms.

At Dovecote Manor, it’s this focus on independence and choice that guides everything we do.

Making the most of every day

Dovecote - Excelcare-1310.jpgOur family-run home is a fun and stimulating place to live with lots of activities, day trips and outings that keep residents engaged, content and trying new things every day.

Working in partnership with residents, our marvellous Lifestyle Coordinator sets out to create an inspiring daily social programme that brings people together. Our artistic residents love applying their creativity in arts and crafts workshops and cookery sessions, painting classes and flower arranging.

We’re keen board-gamers at Dovecote Manor too, and host card afternoons, bingo and quizzes, and we welcome local entertainers into our home to sing, dance and tell stories, as well as enjoy regular visits from local school children who come to take part in activities and chat with residents.

Mealtimes are an especially important time for coming together and socialising. We all enjoy a changing menu of freshly made dishes from our brilliantly imaginative catering team, who cook up resident favourites and cater to special dietary needs and cultural preferences. On residents’ birthdays, our chef bakes a special cake to honour the occasion and we often throw a party for families and friends.

With outings to Bletchley Park, lunches in local pubs and other daytrips – especially during the warmer months, we make sure the residents’ time is rich and fulfilled with laughter and fun

Life with independence and dignity at its heart

Dovecote - Excelcare-1171.jpgAt Dovecote Manor, we maintain a friendly, warm environment that gives residents a real sense of belonging and promotes wellbeing. Our highly experienced team members always work hard to preserve our residents’ dignity, self-respect and approach dementia care with total professionalism alongside heartfelt compassion.

To promote independent living, each of our care suites has its own lounge, dining area, assisted bathroom and small kitchen area that allows residents to enjoy a snack between mealtimes and family members to make themselves at home. Residents often choose to have time to themselves in one of our quiet spaces, sitting on the patio or taking a gentle stroll around the enclosed garden. Many opt for a pampering treatment in our popular hairdressing salon, usually before meeting visitors in our lively café over coffee and a homemade cake.

Our care team use various therapeutic techniques to help people relax and feel calm – this approach is particularly beneficial for those living with dementia. Our sensory and reminiscence rooms tap into memories, as well as the senses of smell, touch and sound, helping people to relax whilst improving their quality of life.

We know that dealing with dementia can be difficult for family members, so we are always on hand to discuss the condition and help to develop coping strategies.

We welcome visitors every day, and work with families to ensure residents receive sensitive, bespoke care that helps them to live comfortably, with the dignity and respect they deserve.
