There have been celebrations at Windmill Lodge Care Home in Brixton, as team member Thembekile succeeded in achieving her Care Certificate for Assessor of Carers.
Thembe joined Windmill Lodge as a Registered General Nurse in June 2020 and is currently a Team Leader of one of the home’s Dementia Nursing suites. She runs a tight ship and has a great track record with her colleagues, as well as the people who live at the home and their families.
“Nurse Thembe is a very nice Nurse.” Said Euphamia, another Nurse at the home. “She is enthusiastic, punctual, a woman of policy and very neat. She knows her job and she does it well.”
She is really appreciated by her team members and is known for her diligence and dedication; now she can add another skill to her ever-growing list. With her new qualification, Nurse Thembe is officially able to assess carers.
Nurse Thembe recently put an induction training programme together for the new overseas carers to cover all the basics of being a Carer. The package included all of the domains of the Care Certificate, including the six C’s: competence, courage, compassion, commitment, caring and communication.
While talking about her time at the home, Thembe said “I felt it was of great need and importance for me to do the Assessor’s course. Doing the course promotes the safety of the people that live in our home, by ensuring that every team member is well equipped with all the knowledge needed to provide the best care possible.”
Operations Support Manager Rajiv called Thembe “a very proactive and well experienced nurse.” He said, “She works well under pressure, goes far beyond the call of duty, and works closely with the people living in our home.”
The team at the home have no doubt that Thembe will excel even further with her new Care Certificate and cannot wait to see what she does next.
