The people living at Windmill Care Home in London were visited by the Celestial Church of Christ earlier this month for an engaging service and celebration of Faith.
The Celestial Church was originally founded in the Republic of Benin by Pastor Samuel Bilehou Joseph Oshoffa in 1947, but has since become known across the world with parishes in many different countries,.
During their recent visit, the Celestial Church (Elephant and Castle) brought a big fruit hamper for the people who live at Windmill. As it was a beautiful day, this service took place in the garden which residents thoroughly enjoyed as they could appreciate the weather whilst being surrounded by nature.
Hymns were sung which people joined in with, and those who didn’t know the words moved in time to the music from their chair. The session ended with a rendition of the Lord’s prayer and a big thank you from the people living at Windmill.
Services like these are priceless as they provide residents with the opportunity to practice their faith from the comfort of their own home. This is especially appreciated by people who have limited mobility, as it means they can maintain their identity and continue to follow the faith they have followed throughout their lives.
Residents said they were very grateful to Celestial Church for taking the time to visit their home and host an enjoyable service. The fresh fruit also went down very well with the people living at Windmill and they all look forward to welcoming the parish back soon.
