Craft activities are popular with the people living at Westport Care Home in London, especially when they involve making items they can use at the home.
This week, they were excited to take part in a dream-catcher making activity. To start, each of the residents were handed kits to help make them.
This involved taking colourful pieces of string and using them to weave cardboard cut-outs together to form the shape. Some used one piece of string in their chosen colour, while others used multiple different strands for a more eye-catching look.
The strings were then left to hang below and decorated with rainbow beads for an added pop of colour.
After everyone had made their dream catchers, paints were handed out so they could personalise them with unique patterns.
Once dried, the people living at Westport took their creations to hang up in their rooms. They said they would like to keep these, but if their family and friends would like one too, they’d happily repeat the session and make some for them.
Baker Ross, the company who supplied these activity kits, have a wide variety of different activities the residents can take part in. Team members from the care home said how well each of their kits have gone down with the residents and that they will continue to order more of their exciting craft project kits.
