Based in East London’s Stepney Green, our beautiful 41-bed home is an active part of our local community and provides respite care and long-term care for people who need residential, residential dementia and end of life care.

Our home is a place of freedom and respect, where our dedicated team, many of whom live in the local areas of Barking, Upminster and Ilford, encourage residents to make their own choices and support them to remain as independent as possible.

Known for our home-from-home environment, quality care and a fun and friendly atmosphere. we also maintain close contact with the vibrant inner London communities of Limehouse, Shadwell and Mile End, as many of the residents have lived in the local area all their lives.

“I would just like to say a “BIG THANK YOU” for caring and looking after my big sister. We are so very sorry she has had to go into a nursing home, as we were more than happy for her to be looked after by all of you. We could not fault the care my sister received while she was with you. Once again I say a big thank you to all of you.”

Relative of Former Resident

“Thanks so much for taking such good care of my wife Eva who stayed with you at Westport. You, Agnes and all the carers deserve my heartfelt thanks.”

Relative of Resident

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the excellent care you gave my brother Edward. It is a pleasure to see how much care is taken to make him happy.”

Relative of Resident

“My mother has lived at Westport for the past couple of years, and as I am based in America it has been really difficult for me to deal with her. Denise has been so caring and gone over and above her duties to help my mother and family with all aspects of her care and wellbeing. I do not know what I would have done without the help and caring of Denise. She is a truly compassionate and very efficient person.”

A highly personal approach to care

Excelcare-Westport-Care-Home-P1.jpgOur person-centred approach to caring for residents guides everything we do and our team members care for the special individuals who live with us, as if they were members of their own family.

Dedicated to providing high-quality care, our skilled team spend time with each person to get to know their likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests and what’s important to them.

With this detailed knowledge we are able to tailor care and support for each resident, according to their personal preferences.

We make sure that residents’ families are always included in their lives, whether it’s joining us for afternoon tea or helping to decorate their loved one’s room with precious items or furniture if they wish, so they feel completely at home.

Our two fantastic programmes – Namaste and Sonas – are both designed to increase wellbeing through stimulating the senses. Using sound, images and touch, residents experience deep relaxation and peace of mind. Guided by what the person responds to, they are especially effective for those people living with advanced dementia.

All Westport’s care professionals are NVQ trained, so residents receive the highest-quality care and living standards.

Our sensitive and caring approach to supporting residents to live happy, comfortable lives is reflected in our Gold Standards Framework accreditation, which is an industry mark of excellence for providing quality care - particularly for people nearing the end of their lives.

Designed for living in comfort

Excelcare-Westport-Care-Home-P2.jpgWestport is a bright and attractive family-run home, designed to be a comfortable, friendly place to live happily. We have 38 single rooms and 3 rooms for couples, all with their own en-suite facilities for privacy.

On each floor of the building is a sociable lounge plus a kitchenette, so residents can meet, chat and prepare snacks for themselves and visitors can also make themselves at home. For those who prefer a bit of peace, the first and third floors also have dedicated quiet areas, perfect for reading a book or having a snooze.

Our dining rooms on each floor are the perfect place to enjoy freshly-prepared food during mealtimes, surrounded by friends. Menus are carefully designed by our in-house catering team to reflect the residents’ likes and dislikes, as well as special dietary needs and cultural preferences.

Our gardens are the venue for many celebratory parties and barbecues, as well as picnics and even visiting entertainment. We also have a vegetable plot that green-fingered residents love tending to during the warmer months.

Located in the inner London borough of Tower Hamlets, Westport is close to a wide range of shops and East London’s beautiful parks and gardens.

Nurturing laughter and fun

Excelcare-Westport-Care-Home-P3.jpgAt Westport, we have a created a lively, friendly community and we offer a wide variety of activities and events for the people living here. There are arts and crafts classes, film screenings and bingo afternoons as well as gardening evenings, card nights and much, much more. Residents can find plenty of ways to relax, socialise and develop new interests.

Our monthly Magic Me cocktail parties are a massive success. We decorate the lounge area with lights, banners and streamers, then serve a range of imaginative cocktails. Family members and members of the local community are encouraged to visit for a fun, all-inclusive evening.

As well as the activities at Westport, we also organise lots of day trips for residents to nearby galleries, parks and the city farm, as well as lunches in pubs and cafés, shopping trips and trips to different religious services.

We maintain strong connections with the local area too, and run projects with nearby schools, where young people visit and take part in activities and events. It’s a great way of changing the pace of the home and feeling part of a lively, vibrant community.
