UPSWING is a multi-award-winning contemporary circus company that aims to entertain and inspire curiosity through the work they do.
As well as putting on impressive performances, UPSWING understands the awe and wonder that traditional circus skills can bring and so, part of their work now involves going into care homes and training team members to perform well-known circus skills.
The team at Windmill Lodge Care Home in London recently started a five-week training course with UPSWING to begin learning circus skills that they could perform at the home and teach to the people who live there.
After welcoming the team from UPSWING and taking them on a tour of the home, the team watched UPSWING perform some circus skills, before having a go for themselves.
During this introductory session, the team learned the basics of juggling, starting by using scarves to improve their coordination skills. The team really enjoyed the first session and getting to grips with some basic circus skills. Grace, who enjoys visiting the circus said she has always wanted to learn how the tricks are done, but never had the opportunity to until now!
The team and residents at Windmill are all very excited about the circus training with UPSWING and can’t wait to see what skills they pick up over the next 4 sessions.
