Residents of Castlemead Court Care Home were recently transported back to the Tudor Times when the Tudor Lady of Dorset came to visit.
The Tudor Lady of Dorset, also known as Jan, is very knowledgeable about the Tudor Times, especially information surrounding the life and death of Keng Henry VIII. So, as the Tudor Lady of Dorset, Jan visits different care homes and venues spreading her knowledge of life in Tudor Britain.
Jan arrived at Castlemead Court wearing Tudor undergarments. This is a plain white dress-like piece of clothing that is worn underneath the more lavish style Tudor dress we’re used to seeing.
With everyone sitting comfortably, Jan called on the support of Lifestyle Coordinator, Nicky, to help her put on her Tudor clothes. With each item that Nicky gave to Jan, she first explained what the item of clothing was, before sharing a fact about Henry VIII’s life. As she put on more items of clothing, Jan shared more information about Henry VIII and encouraged residents to feel the material of each piece of clothing.
As Jan was putting on the clothing items and sharing facts about the Tudor times, residents enjoyed asking her questions and testing her knowledge. Turns out, Jan really does know her stuff, as she got all of their questions correct!
With her transformation into the Tudor Lady of Dorset complete, residents enjoyed admiring her clothing, posed for pictures with her, and shared compliments about how elegant she looked.
The Tudor Lady of Dorset then toured the care home, visiting people spending time in their bedrooms and other communal areas. During her walk around Castlemead Court, The Tudor Lady of Dorset shared more facts about Tudor Britain and answered all the questions people had.
This visit from the Tudor Lady of Dorset was something new to Castlemead Court, but after being so well received by the people who live there, they will be inviting more interesting and educational acts to visit and share their wisdom!
