The people living at Goldenley Care Home in South Benfleet had a great time hosting their Toga Party!
The residents had mentioned how much they wanted a Toga party during one of their recent residents’ meetings, as they thought it would be a fun and creative way to socialise with each other. So, the Lifestyle Coordinator arranged a party for them all, complete with entertainment from solo singer Carly Callaghan. Carly has performed at the home in the past and was loved by everyone, so she was definitely a good choice for the party.
Everyone dressed up for the occasion, with both the team and the people living at the home donning their best togas. Faith, the Lifestyle Coordinator, managed to accessorise most people with ivy and sheets from her hidden bag of fancy dress. Doris and Ron were eager to get dressed up and were giggling in anticipation! Even their daughter Evelyn joined in, saying what a fantastic idea it was. Maureen was also very excited and told everyone that she had the perfect sandals for the occasion. She loved having her photo taken in her outfit, as did many of the people who joined the party.
Carly performed a rendition of songs from the 50s and 60s, cleverly changing the lyrics so they were related back to the toga party in some way. There were plenty of refreshments, which were definitely needed after all of the enthusiastic dancing and singing!
The whole event was certainly a success; Paddy noted how marvellous it was to see everyone enjoying themselves! It was great having everyone together in their fancy dress, and they can’t wait for the next themed party.
