During the COVID 19 lockdown it’s important to remember family, even under the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in. Excelcare actively encourages loved ones to stay in contact with their families, whether that be through video calls or writing letters to loved ones. Whilst technology is a fantastic way to stay connected sometimes it is important to remember more traditional ways of communication, something simple yet tangible like a card can be just as powerful.
Joyce, who lives at Goldenley Care Home in Essex, recently experienced that when her grandchildren surprised her by sending a card through the post. She was absolutely thrilled to receive the beautiful card letting her know her family was thinking of her.
Faith, a Lifestyle Coordinator at Goldenley, was on hand to read the card out loud to Joyce who was grinning ear to ear, she was so proud to receive this thoughtful token from her grandchildren. A few tears of Joy were shed from both Joyce and Faith, who, speaking of the event said. ‘There is nothing more special than to see our residents faces and smiles which makes my day. It is so special when my colleagues and I get the joy of sharing these special moments’.
It was a touching moment for Joyce and something she'll continue to enjoy as the card has been proudly displayed in her room.
