The people living at Goldenley Care Home in Benfleet received a surprise visit from Rolo the Pug this week.
Rolo belongs to Goldenley’s Home Manager, Elvisa, who decided to bring her in as the people who live at Goldenley love spending time with animals. Time with animals also has a variety of benefits too, as they provide companionship, comfort and also help to bring back fond memories of pets people have had in the past.
When arriving at Goldenley, Elvisa took Rolo around the home to meet all of the people who live there. This included going to communal areas and people’s bedrooms to ensure everyone had a chance to say hello. Seeing Rolo delighted the people who live at Goldenley and they all wanted to have a cuddle with her.
Rolo sat patiently on people's laps as they stroked her and throughout the day, enjoyed exploring and entering people’s rooms. She happily sat on the floor as people came and greeted her, proving to be a popular and friendly companion for everyone.
Tessa lives at Goldenley and had a big smile on her face as she sat and had a cuddle with Rolo. Evelyn, who also spent time with Rolo during her visit, said how lovely it was to have a dog in the home and it was clear that time with Rolo provided a boost to her wellbeing.
After raising many smiles, we're sure Rolo will return to spend time with her new friends at Goldenley again soon.
