The team members at Winifred Dell Care Home in Brentwood always ensure that they have time for one-to-one sessions with the people living in the home.
Recently, Lifestyle Coordinator Clare caught up with Charlotte for a wonderful one-to-one session. During the session, Charlotte questioned whether the home had a library, or a section of books that she could read. So, Clare took her to the lounge where there is a lovely collection of communal books for everyone.
Charlotte had a good look through the different covers, eventually settling on a title that she liked the look of. She got stuck in straight away, nestling into a seat, so Clare decided to leave her to it. When Clare popped her head back into the lounge later, she found that Charlotte was still there! It was clear that she had chosen a real page turner that she couldn’t put down, and she looked like she was really enjoying it.
Charlotte said that the whole one-to-one session “made her feel very important”, and that she was looking forward to getting through more of the books in the lounge.
Clare plans to get more novels for the shelf, including ones with larger print, so that more of the people living at Winifred Dell can enjoy sitting down with a good book.
