Olive, a resident at Limetree Care Home in Brixton surprised the team and people living there recently as she stepped up to the piano to show off her musical talents.
Olive is an active lady who enjoys getting involved in a variety of activities. She is a new addition to the family after recently moving in, so the team is still getting to know about her life, talents, and the hobbies she enjoys.
During recent discussions, the team heard that Olive used to play the piano and was quite a talented musician, so, to help Olive reconnect with her passion for music, they showed her to a piano located in another care suite.
When Olive saw the piano, her face lit up as she had no idea it was there! The team helped her over to the piano and Olive began to get a feel of the key sounds. After a little warm-up, she was away and serenading the suite with songs she remembered from the past.
She took everyone by surprise with her ability to pick up her skills again so quickly and play a range of songs from memory. With no backing track or music sheets, Olive played some of the music that she loves and grew quite an audience behind her.
Olive knows how to entertain people living in care homes, as she used to volunteer at the care home her husband lived in. She would not only raise smiles with her musical talents but also host gardening activities and bingo games to name a few.
Olive became an overnight celebrity at Limetree thanks to her musical talents and we're sure she will be lighting up the home with her piano-playing skills again soon.
