Okeley Care Home recently took part in World Food Day by hosting their own multicultural feast!
The people living and working at Okeley come from all different walks of life, countries and faiths, so they thought it would be nice to use world food day to sample some of the foods from each person’s home country.
Residents thought this was a really good idea and said how they always enjoy trying new foods!
To bring the event to life, team members each brought in a traditional dish which was laid out on a buffet-style table. Residents were then invited to help themselves and choose the foods they wanted to taste. There was a large variety, from countries all over the world including South Africa, India, Jamaica and Portugal.
Everyone enjoyed tasting the different foods available and choosing which ones were their favourite. To comply with the theme, people were also given the choice of having green cream soda to wash their lunch down, which is a popular drink in South Africa. People agreed it was a delicious drink and said they enjoyed the sweet taste.
It was a fun day for all at Okeley and made for a welcome change to their weekly lunch menu.
