The people living at Okeley Care Home in Chelmsford have recently been trying a new craft activity and using tie-dye to create colourful clothing items.
There is no right or wrong way to do tie-dye, so you can use a variety of different colour combinations and techniques to make unique patterns on different clothing items.
Everyone has enjoyed the creative freedom that tie-dye offers and how bright and colourful the items look at the end, so the team have added more sessions to the activity schedule.
During the most recent session, the team recently brought some plain white socks so people could create some colourful additions for their feet.
Residents started by tying elastic bands around the socks in different ways to create different effects on the socks. They then put a variety of different colour dyes in a large tub with water and left them in there to soak up all the different colours.
The socks were left in the dye for a long time to make sure they were as vibrant as they could be.
After taking the socks out of the dye, they were washed and dried, before being given back to the people that made them. Everyone was really pleased with how their socks turned out and now have a new, colourful addition to their sock drawer.
