Everyone living and working at Okeley Care Home in Chelmsford rallied behind Miles, as he completed the London to Brighton cycle ride!
Miles’ dad David lives at Okeley, and made sure that the whole of Okeley Care Home was cheering his son on. The overall journey was an impressive 55 miles, which is certainly not an easy feat!
Miles’ father David was a huge fundraiser back in his heyday, often taking part in events such as the London to Brighton cycle ride. David is now living with dementia, so Miles thought he would continue on his father’s behalf.
Miles has raised over £1000 so far, with the proceeds going to Dementia UK. This is definitely a charity close to his heart, as his dad is now living with dementia himself.
When asked about his journey, Miles said “The 55 miles were tough overall, and got very difficult towards the end. On the approach to Ditchling Beacon there is a very steep gradient that I managed to go up without stopping. It was tough but knowing that it was for a great cause kept me going until the end.”
Everyone at Okeley is so proud of Miles and know that the money that he’s raised will make a fantastic difference.
