It was an exciting day at Okeley Care Home when Margaret celebrated her 66th wedding anniversary.
To mark the day in style, Lifestyle Coordinator Odelia organised an afternoon tea with Margaret’s daughter. The kitchen team supported, made some wonderful cakes and treats and had a variety of hot and cold drinks available.
To make the day memorable, the team displayed photos from her wedding day to help bring back memories from this special day. Decorations were put up around the room and some colourful flowers were ordered to place in vases around the room.
Margaret said the room looked lovely. Seeing all of the pictures from her wedding day on display brought a big smile to her face and many fond memories from the past. Margaret enjoyed sharing some stories with her friends and the people who care for her from the day she tied the knot, 66 years ago.
Margaret and John met when her brother secured a job as a minister in Lincolnshire. Margaret went with her brother, and they stayed at John’s parents’ house. This is the first time they met and from there, stayed in contact by writing letters to each other.
Over the months and years, their relationship developed before marrying in 1956.
It was a wonderful day celebrating Margaret’s 66th anniversary and recalling special memories from the past.
