Across the Excelcare group, each care home celebrates the incredible efforts of the team members working in each by hosting an ‘employee of the month scheme’.
Although each and every team member is congratulated for their incredible efforts regularly, the management team like to award the efforts of an individual who has stood out that month.
At Hunters Down Care Home, Lifestyle Coordinator Kristine won the ‘employee of the month award’ for January.
Kristine joined Hunters Down in September 2018 as a receptionist. She then helped with the activities during the first lockdown whilst some other team members were isolating. She took to the role so well and enjoyed it so much, that in August 2020 she was offered the Lifestyle Co-ordinator role and accepted it.
As well as her work with residents, Kristine is a talented video editor and has helped to make some incredible content for the home. She has even introduced TikTok to the home which the residents have enjoyed getting involved with. The people living at the home said: “you are never too old to learn something new.”
Family members also love seeing their loved ones included in these videos as it gives them a glimpse into life at the home and the activities they get up to.
The most popular video Kristine created was the Christmas advert for the home, but she has also created content for Mothers and Father Day, Veterans Day, the Olympics and Staff Appreciation Day.
Kristine said, “it is really good experience for me and a great opportunity to develop my skills. I love being a Lifestyle Coordinator and really appreciate the time I spend with the residents.”
