Jean, or ‘cookie’ as her friends know her, lives at Neath House Care Home in Milton Keynes. The people who live with Jean know her for her beautiful singing voice. She raises smiles and brings warmth to any room she enters by singing her favourite songs.
Jean takes any opportunity to show off her vocal talents, so it’s no surprise that on her most recent hospital visit she was singing from when the taxi arrived! The radio wasn’t needed for this journey, as Jean sang a variety of songs and kept everyone in the taxi entertained.
When Jean entered the hospital waiting room, she decided to lift the mood and continued her tuneful singing. This time she sang songs from popular artists including Vera Lynn, Tom Jones, and her favorite song "only you" by The Platters. Everyone enjoyed her singing and she received a round of applause as she left the waiting room.
After the surgeon heard about Jean’s singing in the waiting room, she began to ask about her love of music during her appointment. Being a music fan herself, Jean was happy to serenade the surgeon throughout the procedure which made it much more enjoyable than most the usual hospital visit.
The surgeon told Jean that she had made her day and didn’t want her to go home! As she left, Jean even had a passer-by come up to her and say, ‘you’re the singing lady’, before coming over to compliment her beautiful voice.
It’s safe to say that Jean spread lots of smiles during her visit to the hospital and made what could have been a dull day, an enjoyable one to remember!
