The people living at Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon were delighted after receiving a visit from a few feathery friends.
The Raptor Foundation visited the home to show off some of their amazing birds. They are an organisation that work to rehabilitate and return injured birds of prey back to the wild, and to protect and preserve them through education and conservation. Everyone living at the home was very intrigued and excited for the visit, and some family and friends who were visiting even came along!
Elliot, the team member from The Raptor Foundation, brought 3 different owls and a hawk with him, and started the session by sharing some animal facts. Everyone loved learning about the birds and were really thrilled to have the chance to stroke some of them.
The room was filled with laughter and smiles as Elliot introduced each bird and answered everyone’s questions. The star of the show was Minnie, a beautiful barn owl, who showed off his skills and flew around the room. Everyone watched in awe as his lovely wings spread wide while flying across the room.
It was difficult for the people living at the home to choose their favourite bird in the end, as they grew attached to all of them over the short period of time! Everyone agreed it was a wonderful way to spend their day, and that they’d love another visit from their flying friends at some point.
