Coffee, cake and conversation were the themes at Goldenley Care Home recently when the team hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning.
This was primarily hosted to help raise funds for Macmillan, but these coffee mornings also provide an opportunity for relatives, friends and members of the community to visit the home and enjoy time with the people who live and work there.
The home has hosted lots of these events before, so Lifestyle Coordinator Faith didn’t hesitate to get a date in the diary this year to host another.
Ahead of the events, residents helped to bake some cakes to sell at the coffee morning. Some team members also helped to make cakes and purchase items to sell during the event. All proceeds from selling the teas, coffees and cakes would be donated to Macmillan to help support people who live with cancer and fund future research into finding a cure.
Ahead of the event, the team set up the room with balloons and banners and laid out the different cakes on the tables.
When the visitors arrived, they were welcomed with a smile and shown the delectable selection of cakes and hot drinks available. People were commenting on how delicious the cakes looked and didn’t hesitate in buying a few.
Visitors, residents and team members then spent time socialising, catching up and meeting new people. It was a really enjoyable morning and another successful fundraising event for Macmillan.
Goldenley raised a total of £72.50 for Macmillan and they look forward to hosting another coffee morning soon!
