Geri, a resident of Okeley Care Home in Chelmsford, was delighted to be welcomed into her colourful new room this week.
The team at the home are always looking for ways to ensure residents feel comfortable and at home. This sometimes involves redecorating bedrooms to match their changing tastes, much like they would have done in their own homes.
The team were recently updating some rooms at Okeley, when Geri wandered past and saw the flowery wallpaper they were putting up. She thought this was a lovely colour and asked if she could move into the room as she liked it so much!
After hearing this, the team asked if Geri would like this to put up in her room, rather than moving to another room which she immediately agreed to. Alex from the maintenance team got to work, updating her room with this new wallpaper. It didn’t take too long and after he had put her furniture and decorative items back in place, her new room was revealed to her.
She had a big smile on her face as she saw the new colourful wallpaper in her bedroom and thanked Alex and the team for all their hard work.
Updating Geri’s personal space was a small gesture that went a really long way and the new colourful look has provided a positive boost to her wellbeing.
We hope you like your new room Geri!
