Hunters Down Care Home recently hosted their summer fete and invited the Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor David Cole to open the event. As well as cutting the ribbon, he also said a short speech to welcome everyone and declare the event open!
Bethany Jane got the fete off to a lively start as she put on a musical performance for the team and residents. As you looked around, you could see people up on their feet singing and dancing along or moving in time from their chairs.
Ahead of the event, the garden had been decorated with banners, balloons and other colourful items which made it feel like a carnival parade. As well as the colourful decorative items, team members came in colourful costumes of their icons . This included Cath as Baby Spice, Pam as Posh Spice, Janet as the Queen and Sidna as Mary Poppins.
Throughout the afternoon, people took part in games, which included ‘Tin Can Alley’ and ‘Ball in the Bucket’. Both of these games tested people’s aim and made for many comical moments when people missed the target. Another part of the fete which was popular with people was seeing all the different stalls. One was selling cakes; one was selling books and another hosted a tombola raffle. There were lots of prizes up for grabs, so residents and visitors enjoyed trying their luck to see if they would win!
The fete was a huge success, and the team was very grateful to everyone who turned up to show support, including a special mention for Councillor David Cole. All of the money raised during the Hunters Down Summer Fete is being donated to the comfort fund, to provide people with new experiences, equipment and fun days out.
