There were western dreams in the air at Okeley Care Home as they recently celebrated Father’s Day. Not all of the men at Okeley have children, but this day presented them with the opportunity to recall fond memories they have with their fathers.
To make the day special, the team set up a western-style backdrop in the garden and placed props in the foreground that people could wear. They then hosted a photoshoot to capture pictures of the gents in western saloon style that could be sent to their friends, families and children.
The men living at Okeley had lots of fun taking part, so much so that some people stepped up to the photoshoot in character, chewed on a piece of straw and said phrases like, ‘Yee-haw’ and ‘Howdy Partner’.
After an active morning, the team hosted a BBQ in the afternoon to unwind and enjoy some delicious food. Some family members and friends came along to join the party and celebrate with their fathers.
Carly Anne provided the entertainment and got everyone singing along to popular songs from the past.
The team then handed out pictures that had been captured in the morning to the people who could Attend. They certainly raised smiles and laughter, as people saw their dads dressed in western clothes. For people who couldn’t attend on the day, the team sent them the pictures, so they were able to see their dads smiling and having a wonderful time.
It was a lovely day celebrating the gents of Okeley and creating happy, Father’s Day memories as a family.
