We often need some time to reflect when we lose our loved ones, and recently Doris from Goldenley has been doing just that with the Goldenley team.
Doris’ son recently brought in a beautiful picture of her late husband Ron, who had also lived at Goldenley. Ron was a very special part of Doris’ life, and a wonderful member of the Goldenley family. He was a cheeky chappy who was always willing to join in with activities in the home, and especially liked when he got to dress up in a toga with Doris.
Doris was so thrilled when she received the picture and said “Oh I adored my Ron; he was a very special man.” This led to a lovely reminiscence session, in which everyone shared their memories of Ron.
Doris and Ron had so many happy years together and recounting them put such a wide smile on her face. One of her favourite stories to tell was of the time that the happy couple went abroad with her family, and lost Ron on the beach. When they eventually found him, he had joined a group of strangers for a game of volleyball!
It is very important to support the people living and working in our homes when they are experiencing loss, and Goldenley make sure that everyone feels like they can reach out if they need to. The team pride themselves on the relationships that they have with the residents of the home; with everyone feeling like they are their own family.
Whether it is a friendly cup of tea, or a supportive hug, the Goldenley family will help each other through anything.
