Lime Court Care Home in Harwich was filled with singing, dancing and laughter as talented ukulele player and singer, Dennis Maisey came to perform.
Dennis is a popular act with the people who live at Lime Court, as he plays well-known songs from the past that not only bring back memories but take people back to their younger years. He always encourages residents to sing and dance along to the songs he plays, but they need little encouragement as after his opening song, people are usually showing off their moves already.
Like his past performances, the room was filled with people looking forward to watching Dennis perform. The sounds of his ukulele, combined with his wonderful voice put a smile on each person’s face and they were soon singing along to the songs he played. He played lots of George Formby songs in his classic comedic style which raised lots of smiles around the room.
Over the last two years, due to coronavirus lockdowns, most of the home’s entertainment has been delivered virtually through video calling apps. Although everyone enjoyed these performances, live music acts have a much greater impact on people’s personal wellbeing. Residents also like being able to clap and thank their visiting entertainers in person after they have finished their acts.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Dennis’ performance and gave him a loud round of applause at the end. It was a very enjoyable afternoon, and the team can’t wait to welcome Dennis back again soon.
