Residents and team members at Castlemead Court Care Home in Newport Pagnell recently hosted their annual summer fete!
The summer fete is always an anticipated event at Castlemead as residents, friends, family members and people in the local community are invited to join them for an afternoon of food, drink and entertainment. This year, there was more excitement surrounding the event as the fete was taking place on the same as the Newport Pagnell carnival.
This annual carnival parades around the streets with floats created by people living in the community. Everyone comes together to watch the parade pass by and cheer on the people taking part, so it was due to be a day of action-packed fun!
The morning started with residents and team members making their way out to the front of the home, where they got a wonderful view of the passing carnival. Residents cheered as the floats went by and enjoyed watching the variety of different displays people had created. They especially enjoyed seeing the floats that had been created by the local schools, nurseries and cadet groups.
After waving goodbye to the carnival parade, it was time for the Castlemead Court summer fete to start. The BBQ was already hot and cooking delicious food whilst live music from 60s band ‘As you were’ played in the background.
Team members from Castlemead Court also invited local businesses to join them and set up stalls in the garden. So on the day, there was a local jewellery maker, face painter and a stand selling hand made bags and keyrings. Residents enjoyed browsing the stalls and seeing the wonderful items these talented people had made.
Other entertainment included a raffle, hook a duck, tombola, name the teddy bear and a classic ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ game. Residents and visitors on the day enjoyed getting involved in the games and seeing if they could win a prize.
It was a wonderful day filled with fun and excitement. Money raised during the event has gone to the home’s lifestyle fund, which helps to purchase new equipment and fund exciting days out for the people who live at Castlemead Court.
