Thursday 9th September was National Emergency Services Day; a day dedicated to celebrating the contributions, both past and present, of those who have served in the emergency services of the United Kingdom. The people living in Brook House Care Home in Cambridge wanted to do their part to celebrate, so they got to work thinking of a way to make it special.
Jade, the Lifestyle Coordinator at the home, thought it would be nice if they could make a large card, thanking everyone who works in the emergency services for all that they do. Then, she could share the picture on the Brook House Facebook Page, tagging their local emergency services to make sure that they saw it.
The people living in the home thought that this was a great idea, so they got to work on the fun activity almost immediately! The residents coloured the base of the card red, like a fire engine, and then coloured in pictures of fire engines, ambulances and police cars. They also stuck stickers onto the card to make it look more decorative.
While everyone got stuck into the activity, Jade began sharing some facts about the emergency services, which led to some really interesting discussions. Everybody partook in a lively conversation about the different types of emergency services, including the ones that don’t get talked about as often.
Everyone at Brook House thinks that each person that works for the emergency services is a hero, and they thank them wholeheartedly for their passion and dedication to the public.
