Students studying beauty therapy at Milton Keynes College recently visited The Willows Care Home to host a relaxing pamper morning for the people living there.
Students Annabelle, Andrea and Aysha, alongside their teacher Gracie, set up a salon-style station within the home, offering hand massages, manicures and nail painting. Lifestyle Coordinator Fiona, who works at The Willows, then visited residents to offer them an appointment with the students.
As residents enjoyed being pampered and chatting with the students, many shared fond memories that the experience brought back. Several of the ladies spoke about regularly visiting nail salons when they were younger and said they loved reliving the experience.
One resident was especially delighted by the wide selection of nail varnish colours available, commenting: “We didn’t have all this selection when I was younger.” Her remark sparked conversations about how the beauty industry has changed over the years and the amazing treatments that are available today.
While the lifestyle team at The Willows regularly organise wellbeing and beauty sessions, residents particularly enjoyed spending time with the students and hearing about their future career ambitions. The opportunity to connect with younger generations made the morning even more meaningful.
To thank the students for creating such a special experience, residents presented them with chocolates and a card as a gesture of appreciation for their visit.
