Using pets as therapy is very common practice for the people at Ashlyn Care Home in Essex. The people living at the home are big fans of playing with pets that are brought into the home.
Over the years, Ashlyn has invited many animals in for pet therapy, from dogs to pigmy goats to chicks and more! The day that they visit is always very exciting, with residents counting down the days if they know that an animal is coming.
For 7 years, Flossie the dog used to come to work with team member Sue Aston every time she had a shift, and the residents absolutely loved it. However, Flossie unfortunately passed away recently, which everyone was incredibly sad about.
Now, Sue has got another little dog called Gracie, and she made sure to bring her to visit everyone as soon as possible! Little Gracie had a very warm and excited welcome as she took her first tour of the home and met everyone face to face. The people living at Ashlyn were overjoyed when they met Grace, smiling at her cuteness and excitable energy. The loss of Flossie had been incredibly hard for everyone at the home, so meeting Gracie was truly so special.
Gracie is a great addition to the Ashlyn Care Home family, and they look forward to spending more time with her!
