Ryan Hornett is a talented swing vocal artist, who also works as a team member caring for the residents at Primrose Croft.
With COVID-19 limiting visitation to all care homes, Ryan wanted to use his talents to entertain residents across the Excelcare group, so he live-streamed a performance from Primrose Croft, allowing residents from other homes to be a part of the session too.
Hearing about the planned performance, residents at Ashlyn Care Home were keen to join the live stream and sing along with their friends from Primrose Croft.
Ryan hosted an hour-long session, playing some popular music from the past in his own unique style. The music was familiar for most of the residents, helped to bring back memories from the past and kept them thoroughly entertained.
Team members could comment from where they were watching and talk to other care homes that were doing the same. This helped to connect members of the community and like-minded people around the UK, at a time when sticking together is so important.
Everyone was tapping, clapping and singing along from their chairs and it really felt like Alex was in the room. Residents who were in their bedrooms could also tune in from portable tablets and enjoy an afternoon of upbeat music.
Thanks to Ryan for going above and beyond his role, to keep residents engaged and in high spirits during this difficult time.
