Supporting you and your family

Butterfly-House-9987.jpg

With family values at our heart, it is not only important to us that we are truly supporting each individual, but also that we are working in partnership with   family/care partners through what can sometimes be an emotional and  tough journey with the  onset of dementia at a young age.

We understand that when someone is diagnosed with dementia, it does not only affect that person, but also the whole family. People who live with young onset dementia have very different needs to older people with dementia, and families often find that advice for this age-specific condition is few and far-between.

We encourage family and friends to play an active role in the care & support of their loved one. Our dedicated team are fully qualified to provide  information and support to help with the issues which younger people living with dementia can face, and will always be available to have a conversation, answer any questions or provide information that will help families to support loved ones in the best possible way.

Every day is different

Butterfly-House-9984.jpg

Whether it be through art, music, writing, purposeful activity or socialising, the people who live here are encouraged to be themselves, and there are plenty of options when it comes to choosing how to spend each day. With 32 years of experience in dementia care, our kind and caring team members will support people to live to the fullest; enriching their wellbeing in an environment where there is continuous respect for their individuality, privacy and dignity.

We organise a meaningful and entertaining activity programme, which changes daily. While we strive to provide a varied and age-appropriate programme of activities for the people living here to enjoy together. We also understand that how individuals feel each day may influence what people choose to do; whether it is quiet time in our bright and safe gardens, relaxing in the airy open-plan lounge, or joining in with others. Our garden is also home to a new cabin where people can choose to enjoy creative activities such as painting and crafting, or use the space as a café to enjoy quality time with their loved ones.

At Butterfly House, we also support an active and healthy lifestyle, so gym equipment can be available onsite and fresh, nutritious meals are provided daily by our dedicated, onsite chefs.

Many of the people living at Butterfly House discover a renewed sense of wellbeing through socialising and gaining new friendships, all while learning new skills and enjoying all that life here has to offer.

Care planning in partnership

Butterfly-House-9893.jpgOur commitment to providing quality care and delivering above and beyond best practice is at the heart of everything we do. This has been recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who last inspected the home in 2017 and recognised us as ‘OUTSTANDING in Caring’.

Our care plans keep each individual at the centre of all that we do, and our team see the people who live at Butterfly House as extended family. As part of our investment in each individual, we seek to support each person in a ‘home away from home’, creating a lifestyle where providing quality care meets the individual needs of each person. We approach this by becoming a partner in the individuals’ journey and seek to enable relationships built on trust.

In partnership with each individual and their wider family, we work together to truly recognise each person’s individuality - not only respecting their rights to voice opinions and make choices but encourage the voice of the individual through each step of their care & support plan. Getting to know each other is key and so we will help you to share the persons’ life story which in turn helps us to see the real person coming to live with us.
