Some of our care homes provide specialist care for people with nursing requirements, who are also living with dementia and therefore offer nursing dementia care.
Our focus is on providing the people who live in our care home with expert person-centred care and to alleviate the symptoms of dementia with empathy, listening, understanding, therapy and a safe and welcoming dementia-friendly environment.Windmill-6901.jpg

Our specialist team of nurses are fully trained and are on hand to aid with the wellbeing of people we care for by supporting them with taking prescribed medication, assisting with exercise, ensuring they receive adequate fluids and nutrition and making sure personal effects such as hearing aids and glasses are worn, to maximise orientation and help them to live well.

Our dementia nursing care is tailored around each person. We get to know each individual who lives with us, so we understand their likes and dislikes, their history, culture and we work with family members to ensure their preferences and needs are maintained. Our nurses will also be on hand to offer advice and answer questions about the health of your loved one too.

We promote a dementia-friendly environment, using dementia-friendly signage around each home, in the shape of murals and stickers, to help people to easily find their way around the home. We also promote dementia-friendly communities, including holding regular events and inviting the wider community in, including school children and entertainers. We organise weekly fun and stimulating activities which are inclusive, so that people who are less able, or who cannot leave their room can still be involved if they wish.

Many of our care homes offer dementia support groups or invite health professionals to talk about dementia or Alzheimer’s. This can help family and friends to understand more about the illness, how it can affect their loved one and to provide a safe place to share their own experiences, talk to others and raise questions.
