The people living at Winifred Dell Care Home in Essex recently visited the children of Nappies and Paddies Day Nursery for a day of fun activities.
These types of activities help to develop intergenerational links between residents and younger people in the community which provides lots of benefits! Spending time with children really helps to boost personal wellbeing, especially for people who don’t have grandchildren, as it gives them the opportunity to engage with children. Intergenerational relationships also help to provide people with a sense of purpose, as it allows them to be role models for the children and play an active part in their learning.
When the residents of Winifred Dell arrived at Nappies and Paddies, they said hello to the children, took their seats and began singing some well-known nursery rhymes with them. People were clapping and dancing along from their chairs which brought smiles to the children’s faces and made for an enjoyable start to the day.
Residents then split into smaller groups with the children and did some colouring sheets with them. Whilst they did this, they chatted with the children, told jokes and helped out with anything they could.
It was a really fun day for everyone, especially the people of Winifred Dell, who said it was lovely to meet such a wonderful group of children. It was clear the children had a great time too, so Winifred Dell will be returning soon for another day of fun!
